The 2025 NFL draft is just two days away. This year's event is being held at historic Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the Washington Commanders have just five picks after using draft picks to acquire Marshon Lattimore. (last season), Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil. With those trades, the Commanders answered a couple of questions about their offense for the 2024 season. The team essentially has its main pieces in place and needs to add depth, although there are a few positions that require more assistance than others: edge rusher, running back, and cornerback.

Here's where the Commanders' picks land in 2025:

  • Round 1: Pick 29
  • Round 2: Pick 61
  • Round 4: Pick 128
  • Round 6: Pick 205
  • Round 7: Pick 245

There are always an abundance of mock drafts in the months leading up to the draft, and this year was no different. When it came to the Commanders' 29th pick, though, very few could agree on what position they would even draft for. We saw wide receivers, tight ends, running backs, cornerbacks, safeties, edge rushers, defensive ends, and even some offensive linemen.

While the Commanders' need for an edge rusher does outweigh their need for a running back, there are fewer valuable running backs in this draft class than edge rushers. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Commanders select a running back like Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson and select an edge rusher in the second round.

The good news for the Commanders is that they have options. Most of their needs are pretty well filled; this draft serves to add depth to thin spots and talent for the future of the organization while building on the foundation set by Jayden Daniels in 2024.
