Its being reported on X that there is talk of Washington changing its name again I really hope its so I can respect them though Hate them again just like old times

Still say they should be called the Pigskins. Only offensive to pigs and footballs.

FYI, the Blackfeet Nation (from which the logo originated drawn by one of their chiefs) are pushing to restore the name, as well as other Native American communities.

I think the plan is to use the logo but not the name (Redskins).

Plenty of our friends, from different tribes, were never offended and didn't understand all of the drama over what was a great team name for so many years. They say they were proud of the name and don't like losing other teams named for Indians either. They say it is like the rest of the country is trying to erase any Indian names in the guise of them being offensive and pretty soon there may be no sports teams with Indian names or mascots.

I think it’s weird that they were okay with a clearly derogatory name like “Redskins.” It’s not like “Seminoles” or “Chippewas” which are actual names of tribes. It would be like calling a team the “K!kes.” As a Jew I would be offended by that. I could understand them liking the logo, but not the name, Redskins.
If you ever saw me in July you would understand why redskin is appropriate.

They could go the way of the Braves or Black Hawks. Keep the logo but go with a name that is less controversial.

You know, most Amerindian names which nations are known by as Comanche and Apache is not their actual name but a name which basically means enemy. Europeans asked what tribe is over the next knoll and they would get that other tribe's name for enemy and sometimes worse. All I know is this, the Amerindians I know were upset when they were changed to the Commanders, which incidentally is the name of Biden's dog lol
And on a sidenote, this is a difficult subject because even a name like Seminole is seen as derogatory by a few since it means roughly outlaw or runaway for those of the Creek nation which broke off and went south

I like their 1960's helmets with the spear much better, but that also wouldn't fit with the Commanders name.
Warriors has been suggested (among others), but it depends if they want something more unique.

I’ve been back and forth on this exact point for a while. At then end of the day, I concluded that all I know for sure is I don’t know. I’m a quarter Native American but not familiar with much detail beyond that. From my interactions with them, none have been bothered by it. At the same time, they don’t speak for everyone. I think, like most other historical subjects, the educational system has disgustingly failed to accurately teach the truth in regard to the their history which leaves things like this much more blurry than they should be.
