Comparing 2007 to 2011

After last nights amazing comeback I sat in my hotel room and just thought back and let just how special of a season this has been sink in...

When comparing the 2007 Dbacks to this team, this team has a better BA (but its close), has scored more runs, has a significantly better ERA (which includes the atrocious pitching of Marquis and Heilman), and a better WHIP...

Even Kennedy has been better this year than Webb was in 2007, with more wins, a lower ERA/WHIP, and more strikeouts..

I am a HUGE Pirate fan tonight and depending on how that turns out will determine how I root for the Braves/Cardinals...

Obviously the best case scerenio for the Dbacks is to win tonight, and the Brewers lose... The the Cards lose and the Braves win to We get the Braves at home while the Brewers have to face the Phillies...

So much will be determined tonight, but the bottom line is the Dbacks are speciala this year plain and simple, and THAT is exciting...

Looking a little longer term to post-2007 vs. post-2011, the big difference and thing that excites me is the amount of quality young pitching in our system. Kennedy -- Hudson -- Parker -- Skaggs -- Bauer -- Corbin -- Miley -- and eventually Bradley. With that much good young pitching slowly coming up to the majors over the next year or two, I really feel 2011 is the beginning of a long stretch of being a good, competative team vs. completely falling off the map after 2007.

All that being said, the way the team is playing now, no need to look beyond 2011 as this team is really special!
