place kicker.

Isn't it kind of odd that Whiz has stressed how depth adds to competition which is good for a team yet It appears Rackers has been handed the keys to his job with no real challenge as we head into training camp.

Why? I mean, it's not like he was great last year. Yes, he does have a strong leg for kickoffs and I'm not sure I've seen anybody better at onside kicks. However, he has missed some relatively easy chip shots that has cost us more than a couple of games over the last 2 years.

This is not intended to be a Racker bash thread and if he performs the way he did 3 seasons ago we will be just fine. It's just a little befuddling that he doesn't have any competition for his job.

I have been honing my skills at the local high school field and intend to make a cameo at TC.

Do it up!

Btw - The is no competition at RB, or for WR1, and WR2, and ILB, and SS, and OT. Edge, Fitz, Boldin, Dansby, Wilson, and Brown and Gandy are locks.

The difference is many mentioned above have performed at a high level.

No we won't. The last thing we need is another season where the offense can't get the ball in the end zone and Rackers kicks a bunch of meaningless field goals as we lose 21-12.

Cardsfanmd and I have long agreed that Rackers is like the golfer who makes tons of long putts for bogey but misses the short ones for birdie and the win.

There must be hundreds of former college kickers available. So why no competition? No room on the TC roster?

Well said.

I understand, that Rackers is a good guy and a hard worker, but so is my Grandfather.

The funny thing is that Rackers has never been the great kicker that many people on this board label him as. He has always been a choker. There is a reason that Cincy cut him dry and nobody else was interested until we picked him up midseason.
