The National Rugby League is set to allow an extra substitute in each squad in case a team loses three players to concussion during a match. The Australian Rugby League Commission on Tuesday released details of the so-called 18th-man policy and said it would be introduced from the fifth round of the NRL, due to start April 8. Squads in the NRL comprise 13 starting and four interchange players, but closer monitoring of head injuries and awareness of concussion risks has heightened the need for extra cover.
