So how long before Denny changes QBs or do we give McCown a full season to develop? I haven't really been impressed so far, you?

I think that he can pull it out, but this game is not a good showing. No love lost if they do ditch him and pay out the nose for a QB

He's getting a few seconds more now. 3 completions and hit out of bounds. Freaking head hunter!

He will never be a player in this league. I live in Dallas and watched him @
SMU before he transferred to Sam Houston. He can't read defenses. I
never have liked him as a player.

I'm not going to judge him soley on this game, but he's making some silly decisions with the ball. That last pick was a floater to a double-covered Fitz. As soon as it left is hand I had a bad feeling about it.

He looks awful this game. Sure it is a very imposing defense hes going against but he is just running around back there . Contrast that with how 'cool' Brady looks.

Maybe he just isnt comfortable with the offense yet, but he looks like a dear in headlights.

I thought he had learned, when scrambling, keep your head up so you can make plays downfield. Apparently not. He tucks the ball and stares at the pass rush!

Your expectations must be sort of low. 4 balls batted down. two interceptions and he looks totally lost on the field.

Regardless, decisions were already made... You have to just ride it out and give him the season... Hope he will improve and hope that the rest of the offense will step up with him, or vice versa...

Let's just hope we learned something from Plummer, and realize when to pull that plug... (in full hopes that Josh turns into a football God...)

How does a guy this tall get 4 balls batted down even one when he was in the open field? Is he throwing side arm? I just do not think he can read a defense at all. Did he do any play changes at the line of scrimmage when all those blitzes were comming? One would think a draw or a quick screen pass would be in order. Yes he has started only 6 games now but I am not sure he has progressed at all and that is what you need to be looking for. About 4 more games and if he continues in this mode we do need to see what one of our other QB's can do. That will give him 10 starts and you should have some idea about just how far his upside is. I still think our QB from Michigan has more upside than McCown. He has played in a big time progam and was a winner. Certainly give McCown more starts but do not waste the entire year on him if he continues to have balls batted in his face and looks lost on the field. I did not even see the great scrambling ability he is supposed to have.

Josh had no time to throw. The few times he did have time none of the recievers were open. The right side of our line stinks. If we can fix the OL and after we draft Sproles (that's for S11) he'll look fine.

Fitz had double coverage a lot and nobody was getting open when they were in single coverage. Josh did display some great athleticism on a few runs and trying to buy time to throw a few times. He made a few bonehead plays but being able to see the whole field on some of the plays where he threw in to double or triple coverage to Fitz there really wasn't anyone else open.

Josh just looked absolutely bewildered when he rolled out and every single receiver was covered. What is the guy to do?? We need a speed reciever or we need a running game. Josh can't make wine out of water

Yeah but he needs to go threw this kind of stuff.

He is REALLY young but he did look poised and focused. And yes, at the end of the game I think his frustration may have gotten a hold of him. But regardless this kid has potential. But you have to give him some time, and a healthy Anquan Boldin. Boldin would not have helped to much since the oline is pathetic.
I like our turnover minded defense by the way. Bend but don't break technique.

I agree that the batted balls are of some concern (I thought it was five). Not certain why so many in this game especially those that occurred when Josh had scrambled from the pocket. In those cases I think that he waited too long before attempting to throw and the defender was in his face and able to knock the ball down. But McCown was holding the ball so long waiting for someone to break open; which most times never happened.

Regarding McCown's scrambling ability: If he wasn't quick and a decent scrambler the Patriots would have had 20 sacks in this game. Josh literally had NO time to set up on practically every pass play. He was running for his life all day.

Did McCown screw-up himself some... Definately both interceptions occurred on balls he should have never thrown, as was another near interception. Josh was clearly pressing at the end of the game, and trying to get something going. On one interception (I think it was the first) Josh threw in to a double covered Fitzgerld... I thought Johnson had broken open deep down the sideline late, but by then Josh was already on the run to the opposite sideline.

I think it is a tad bit premature to bench the guy who has gotten all the 1st team reps through camp, preseason and 2 weeks. Even the great QBs have horrible games...sometimes they are off, other times the opposition schemes well. McCown, as others have stated in other threads, needs to use this experience to learn from (as do the coaches) and grow from.

I think we need to be concerned ONLY if this regression (which right now seems normal to me) lingers on over the next few games.

What?
No lost confidence here. The Pats out schemed us and used a more cohesive unit to execute. We'll get there.
