I would think it would be beneficial for Cardinals to have an out in 2nd year without a huge cap hit.

2 years/19M with 10M guaranteed. (edit...this is my guess)
It doesn't really matter IMO. The deal is chump change compared to the cap space we are going to have the next few seasons. Cap space we won't completely use anyhow.

IMO, it's the deal I was hoping they would sign him to. Two years. Some said he would hold out for at least three but it's all about the upfront money with a guy his age.

Excellent. Glad they did it right before this game. Should get the team feeling good about things

He can start next year 2025 and then hopefully flip flop with Benson and be the backup. That should prolong his career and effectiveness.

Well done Big Red & well deserved!!! He’s a leader that’s well needed on & off the field for this team to continue growing

Next up I would extend Budda 2-3 years & trade Jalen before the draft because the rabbit is waiting in line, a better player & going to be an absolute stud

You need a good third safety because of injuries, imo.

Excellent move by Monti for a productive player on the field and an exemplary veteran leader off it.

Budda may not get done until he finds his value in the legal tampering period.

Had to happen.

If I was to guess I'd say something like $12m guaranteed so that if he's tailing off or Benson is ascending they can get out of year 2 without losing much.

I mean worst case scenario is that JC comes of the bench like he did with Chase E. back in 2021. He was super effective that year, a vicious battering ram that scored a million touchdowns and was great in short yardage too.

I wonder if that pay that bonus this year so it doesn’t impact the cap next year. Would make sense for both him and Budda

I don't think that is allowed but I could be wrong.

Besides, we have a crap ton of cap space for next year. There is zero chance Conner's contract will be an issue when it comes to Bidwill spending money. Instead the issue will be Bidwill spending money

Good Signing. With so so many players on rookie deals, there is plenty of money to spend and actually not that many positions to spend it on.

Who cares if he's older. It's the leader of the team, he’s top 5-12 RB, brings stability and and can work as a mentor while slowly seeing his workload decrease

It is, but bonuses are spread over the length of the contract anyway.
So the trick is to pay the bonus as this years’ base salary. I would be surprised if not part of the deal will go on this years base

Yes, I realize they would have to call it salary but I haven't heard anything that says they did that. But, they probably did, one would think.

There is 18M to spend. No one of significance are getting added this late. Should be 15M to play around with.
Doesn’t matter to Bidwill. Signing bonus or base salary immediately impact cash flow the same

This team never maximizes its cap room so I’ll be surprised if the above happens.

It's an extension so it can't affect this year's cap.
However, Mike can pay the "due at signing " portion now. It will count towards the cap later but can probably go against this year's tax bill.

Extension means adding to the existing contract. They can still change the terms of the existing contract
