Is ripping up rookie ball. He leads the league with 45 rbi's and 27 doubles and hitting over .300. I don't think he will stay in the Minors very long. He is our rightfielder of the future.
Jamie D'Antona is second in the league in homers with 11. Our draft this year is already paying huge dividends. I expect Carlos Quentin to start tearing up the Minors next year.

Matrix

Do you think Jackson and D'Antona start next year at El Paso or A ball? Do you think they will play this winter in the AZ fall league?

Has Jackson's elbow settled down? Initially after moving him to OF he had some elbow strain (presumably the throwing) and they had to make him a DH for several games.

I agree, the 2003 draftees are looking fine! I doubt they'd go to AZFL this year - I recently read only one player under double-A level per team is allowed (or some restriction along those lines). I hope they'd go to single-A next season, for at least a brief stay - I think it helps to go through the program, even if very rapidly.

Conor Jackson - remember that name. He has 50 RBIs and THIRTY doubles in 50 games. WOW! Un-*-believable!

So...OK, we get him a couple weeks of single-A this season, start him in El Paso next year, Tucson by, say, June, and BOB around the ASB. He'll have been through all levels, right? Or better yet... how about tomorrow he goes to Lancaster, Thursday-Friday-Saturday with El Paso, then Sidewinders for a week or two of seasoning, and get him up here Sept 1.
:D

I saw Conor play against the UofA and he is no Travis Lee. This guy has more power. He is built.

That's not what I meant. I meant look what happened to Travis Lee who was rushed through the minors with nary a chance to breathe before he ended up in Phoenix.

I don't think that is a problem. I think Travis struggled because he let it get to him mentally. I know both played college ball but Conor played in one of the best baseball conferences and tore it up.

You can use Lee as an example but I'll mention Albert Pujols. He played 2 years of junior college baseball and then I think he played just one year in the minors. He is not having any problems.

Travis also got a mind-blowing signing bonus which I always thought was half the mental problem - that plus jumping the normal minor league tempering fed a sense of entitlement.

And Showalter putting Travis right into the #3 spot in the batting order.

He tried to be what he was not ready to be!

Travis had some good minor league numbers though. He dominated so I see no reason why he shouldn't have been up.

Jackson and D'Antona will most likely go to Lancaster. It seems like they usually try and skip good hitting college guys there. South Bend isn't much of a hitters park and Lancaster is.
