Could Conrad ever be honored by the Cardinals? I've followed his story since I was a young boy and he is one of about 5 players that represents Cardinals football from the 1970's. I keep thinking about him as the Cardinals start replicating feats only last accomplished by the 70's teams.

I realize he's a hot bed of controversy, not only for his play on the field, but his fight against the NFL Union off it.

I seem to recall that he doesn't recognize the Arizona incarnation of the Cardinals and that his heart is in St. Louis. Any chance he could be one of the next in line for the Ring of Honor?

If this is the case, then he shouldn't go in. He came out for Dierdorf's induction in 2006 so maybe its not the case he doesn't appreciate his own part of the organizations history. But since St Louis has former Cardinals in their ring, if Dobblers position is EdJo is the only place his name rightfully belongs, then I don't see any point in convincing him otherwise. Other than that issue, I'd love to see him go in.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's the city of St. Louis, not the Rams organization. And as far as new inductees, how about the guy who brought the original west coast offense to the NFL- Don Coreyell. Jim Hart would be a good choice as well.

I liked Dobler, but Banks,Young and Finnie were better O-lineman on Coryell's mid-70s team. IMO

I think it's a bit crazy. They put their names in Rams colors making it seem like they played for the Rams.

Can't remember if they tell of the years they played, but I would think it would be weird if you have say Jim Hart and whoever was the starting qb for the rams the SAME year.

Like if Niners moved to Dallas, then they'd have Aikman and Young in their ring for playing QB at the same time.

Those names should be in cardinal red, or some neutral color, like green or something.

Can't force someone like cd, nor would we want to. But I might call a bit of bull on the whole incarnation thing. That's probably either a joke or a urban legend. At the same time we have to realize that someone talking about the Phoenix Cardinals in 1988 right after they left might let off steam in a statement, compared to if asked in 2008 about the Arizona Cardinals.

I do think that if a team moves, it still looks natural if they keep the names of the people that were inducted from playing at the old city. But the way the Rams did it just looks awkward.

Does that mean we can retire Rams stuff, because we used to be in St. Louis and now they are, hell throw in the Bears too. If it works one way, why not another?

Just seems a bit weird. Not that any of it matters lol.

I always thought it was a nice gesture by the Rams FO to honor previous St. Louis heroes. Of course, as screwy as they are it's hard to say what their real motives were. They actually got their paperwork in on time and will be able to honor the 1999 team next year. The have failed on many previous attempts to schedule this sort of thing in accordance with league rules. Marshall Faulk day was supposed to be a throwback game but they didn't plan it far enough ahead of time and Georgia's death was supposed to be honored on the field and again the team failed to file paperwork ahead of time.

My point is, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the former Cardinals in the (Rams)ring of honor idea was pulled out of somebodies backside on the spur of the moment.

Agreed that being where they are in the St. Louis world, you are absolutely right. Didn't think of it from that aspect doh. Just one of those things, looks right from where it is, but looks funky from afar.
