The massive number of contracts agreed to and signed in NFL free agency over the last nine days (nearly 400) has resulted in a slower process of the official numbers becoming available.

We can now add one more Arizona Cardinals player, as Cards Wire has the terms for edge rusher Baron Browning.

The deal was initially advertised as being worth $15 million with a max total of $19 million, which was accurate. The extra $4 million is in incentives and a 2026 base salary escalator based on sacks.

In both years, Browning can earn a non-cumulative bonus of $350,000 for five sacks, $700,000 for seven and $1 million for 10 for a max total of $2 million for both years. If one of those benchmarks is reached, the money would go against the 2026 salary cap.

His salary for 2026 would increase by $2 million if he reaches eight sacks.

Baron Browning contract base value

  • $10 million guaranteed: $5.5 million signing bonus, base salary of $2.5 million this year and $2 million of his $4.39 million 2026 base salary.
  • $2 million non-guaranteed roster bonus payable on the fifth day of the 2026 league year.
  • Yearly workout bonuses of $50,000 and per-game roster bonuses of $15,000 with a max total of $255,000,
  • Salary-cap charges of $5.42 million this year and $9.445 million in 2026. If Browning fails to achieve any incentives in 2025 and the Cardinals decide to move on by releasing him prior to the fifth day of the 2026 league year, the dead money against the cap would be $4.75 million.

For the seven signed players with published contract details (Browning, Mykal Walker, L.J. Collier, Evan Brown, Akeem Davis-Gaither, safety Joey Blount and long snapper Aaron Brewer) plus the 1-year restricted free-agent tender for Greg Dortch, the total cap hit this year is $25.958 million.

We are still waiting on official figures for additions Jacoby Brissett, Jake Curhan, Josh Sweat, Dalvin Tomlinson and Simi Fehoko along with re-signed players Kelvin Beachum and Zay Jones.
