I am a Cardinal fan , first and foremost. I was torn last year in the QB controversy and honestly thought Leinart should have been the starter. I am GLAD I was wrong.
To this year.
No one should judge Warner's performance to this point as a measuring stick whether he shpould be the starter or not. Yes there are health concerns, but there are always health concerns when your QB is coming off hip surgery and is 38 years old.
However, he is playing preseason games in a vanilla plan without 2/3rds of his wr corp. That has to play to some measurement in his performance, at least that is what we ALL should be hoping for.
Turning to Leinart. His play has been nothing but encouraging. I don't care who it's against. He still has to throw the ball accurately to the open receiver. Note that he has been dealing with numerous 3rd and long situations and coming up big. I'm talking third and 15 or longer with some of those in the shadows of his own goal line. How , as a Cardinal fan, can you NOT be happy with that?
I feel very good about Leinart. That being said, I want Warner to repeat last years performance. I also feel good that we have a coach that WILL play the guy that give us the best chance to win no matter what his name is.
There is no controversy yet. Only losses and bad QB play will get that flame going.
