Is everything
Dillon is worthy of a mid rounder but I don't think we'd trade for Dillon if Emmitt stays this year.

How old is Dillon? If in mid-late 20s I say give up that 4th round pick and put Emmitt in a coaches jacket. :bday:

He turns 30 in October.

I'd give them a 4th, even a 3rd for him he's exactly the type of player personality Green has had success with, he's very talented, and he's probably suited for our OL. Not a great receiver .

Frankly I expect him to be playing for Joe Gibbs, he's his kind of RB.

NO!!!

He's no longer good enough to make up for his baggage.

If we go after a problem child how about William Green 1o times more talented at this tage of both their careers. One young, one getting older.

When was the last time Dillon got arrested for drugs? Dillon's criminal problems were as a minor 10-15 years ago. Green's problems are right now, with drugs and guns, scary stuff.

I would dispute the notion that Green is 10 times more talented than Dillon too, Corey was playing injured this year and still averaged 3.9 YPC, this is the first year in his career he didn't get at least 1100 yards(1300 3 times 1400 once) and he's not exactly played on great teams in his career.

Green is talented without a doubt, but he hasn't come close to doing anything like what Dillon has. I would argue Dillon was better LAST year playing hurt, both guys averaged 3.9 YPC this season and had almost identical stats, one was healthy but suspended, the other playing hurt much of the year. When Dillon got healthy it showed pretty quickly in his play 4.4 YPC in November, 4.5 in December.

I wouldn't give more than a 3rd for him but at this point I wouldn't offer more than a #7 for Green he's too big of a risk off the field at the moment.

Corey "Leon" Dillon? Wouldn't give anything for him. Marvin Lewis was the first Bengals coach who had the cajones to sit his butt down and say "No thanks, Corey.".

He is a major melanoma in the clubhouse.

Marvin didn't "sit him down", Dillon was hurt, and that's why Rudi Johnson got a chance to play. Now when Johnson played well, Marvin definitely DID keep Dillon on the bench, at the end of the year Dillon was healthy but Johnson was getting the bulk of the carries. But you kind of overstated it, Lewis didn't bench a healthy Dillon for Johnson becuase he had cajones, he started a healthy Johnson for an injured Dillon and then had the cajones to keep Johnson the starter when Dillon got healthy.

he's definitely not a great character guy, Green has had success with those types before, and let's face it you don't get a guy with 3 1300+ season and the former NFL single game rushing record holder for a 3rd round pick if there's not something "wrong" with him.

He's not a need but he'd be worth looking into, my guess is we'll stay with Marcel and Emmitt, Dillon will go to Washington, and probably be this years Stephen Davis since I'm fairly certain Gibbs will give him the ball a lot.

There's a risk involved with Dillon but he stil has some mileage in his legs IMHO.

Russ,

Your response probably stated what I meant better than I did. That's exactly what I meant about Lewis "sitting him down", really he just kept him set down. At any rate I still wouldn't gamble on having Dillon on my team if I was a HC.

Maybe Gibbs would take him, not sure about that. He could end up on numerous rosters because he is a great RB when healthy. On that I can totally agree.

Of course, if he ends up here I'll be rooting for him to return to that 1300+ yards form! I'll root for him to do that anyway (as long as he doesn't do it against the Cards). Someone being a bit of an ass doesn't make me want to see him hurt and not able to play. Not my style.

Thanks Russ, you did put into perspective what I failed to do. Kudos!

Dillon was great just a year before last. I would give a mid pick for him probably...how many mid level picks end up being great players anyways? Dillion a short while ago was setting all types of running records...

Yeah and I wasn't saying you were wishing him ill, just that I think Dillon's main problem is he's spent his whole career on a lousy team where's gotten little pub. I can't remember if it was ESPN or CNN that said this year Jamal Lewis broke the NFL single game rushing record held by Walter Payton, they didn't even know Dillon had broken it a few years ago!

So take a guy with an ego and a chip on his shoulder to begin with, put him on a bad team where he's ignored, and underpaid much of his career, and he's going to complain.

You just never know what's going to happen, sometimes the guys like that are a problem, sometimes they get on a better team and that stuff goes away.

Then I guess we will agree to disagree.

What is it about Green you like, or do you just think Dillon is washed up?

I have no problem with people saying Corey is a jerk, I just disagree about him as a football player, he's had precisely one "bad" year and with good reason, an injury, and then the emergence of Rudi Johnson.

I liked Green pre draft and he was having a solid start to this year before all the drug problems surfaced, but I just think it's a huge risk to acquire someone like that at the moment because he has a pretty big contract. If you extrapolate Green's good start over 16 games you get 1277 yards, a figure Dillon topped 3 times in his career, which is why i questioned your comment about Green being much better.

Excellent points:

And, it should be noted that his injury was not "serious". Meaning good chance for recovery and bounce back season.

You guys would really want to put Dilon and Blake in the same locker room? All we need is to get Carl Pickens to come back and the locker room is set.
