Corporate logos could be coming to National Basketball Association uniforms, according to a published report.

The New York Times reported that NBA Commissioner David Stern said it is possible the league could accept logos on its uniforms as a way of increasing revenue going to teams, although he added that the league would keep both the team and league brands far more dominant on the uniforms.

"We're not soliciting offers, and we're not actively pursuing the category," he told the newspaper. "At some point in the future, the NBA owners will have a decision to make. There may come a time, in recognition of the exposure that the uniforms get, that there's a value proposition that would cause us to consider changing our policies."

So if I buy a Nash jersey, does it come with such add? This is as bad as baseball selling space on thier bases. Stop the madness!

Ugh...I hope the NBA doesnt start looking like some European league. Pretty much all of their jerseys in different sports look like billboards.

Why would he float such an idea while working on the new CBA?

It sounds to me like he was responding to a direct question. His answer makes it pretty clear that no one is thinking about it now, but they know it will become an issue at some point in the future.

So could JJ and Rip or lebron have advertizements on their masks?

Lebron could just put a big peice of his bubble gum on his mask!

I hope they don't start putting stuff on the Unis.

I think it was a little more than coincidence that raised this issue less that 45 days before the CBA expires.

If you say so. I'm sure he gets asked a million random questions all the time; all that's different here is that someone decided to print his response. In any case, maybe I'm naive, but I can't see this being a big issue in CBA negotiations. I mean, really, who cares whether they have corporate logos on the uniform? The only thing I can think of is that it might interfere with endorsement deals that a few players have for competing products.
