A spot in the SEC Tournament championship game may not be the only thing on the line between Alabama basketball and Florida on Saturday afternoon in Nashville.
According to ESPN college basketball analyst Joe Lunardi, the SEC Tournament semifinal between Alabama and Florida could decide which team lands as a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
According to his latest bracketology report, Lunardi has Florida as the fourth and final one-seed, and Alabama as the first two-seed.
Auburn, Duke and Houston occupy Lunardi's other three one-seeds, while Tennessee, Michigan State and St. John's are his other two-seeds.
Alabama basketball lost its only meeting with Florida in 2024-25, falling to the Gators 99-94 at home March 5. Alabama has lost three straight to Florida and has not beaten the Gators since Feb. 21, 2024.
Alabama lost its last meeting with Florida in the SEC Tournament, falling to the Gators 102-88 in the quarterfinals March 15, 2024.
