There have been more than one rookie QB which looked liked a future star after their rookie year till teams got tape on them and the sophomore jinx became a sobering reality. Prescott has been impressive for a rookie but so was Robert Griffin III. I would like us saying is he the next Russell Wilson or Derek Carr instead :)

One thing that drives me crazy about this board are the comparisons.

This guy reminds me of (insert hall of Famer) despite a completely different skill set and physical build lol

But Watson or Kizer are black, they might be like Dak if they are successful or if they fail they become Logan Thomas because they are all black which is total rubbish. Dak is Dak, just as Warren Moon was his own man. Why not say Watson reminds one of Steve Young. This whole player relation by skin color is getting old too because there is a lot of Fran Tarkenton in Russell Wilson for example than say Michael Vick in how he plays the postion in my opinion

Well no one expects us to draft a QB in the first RD. so Dak is the closest reference. Looking for leadership skills after the first Rd.

Jet, I think your comparison of Wilson to Tarkenton is really a great comparison. I remember watching Tarkenton a lot when I lived in NE PA because all we got were Giant games back then. When I think about Tarkenton's style of play, Wilson and him are very similar. Tarkenton just never had good players around him.

Well said Jet, I'm sure we can find a lot of rookie QBs who had a good to great first year only to fizzle out in their 2nd and 3rd years. Dak has looked good to date. Let's see what he can produce in the long term.

There is no single prototype QB to draw comparisons from - Cam Newton ain't Matt Ryan ain't Tom Brady ain't Russell Wilson ain't Dak Prescott.

There are, for sake of argument, 15+ different physical or mental attributes that go into making a quality QB, and no one QB scores a "10" in every category (& in fact, compensates for weaknesses in some categories with strengths in others).

The danger in singling out a Prescott or Newton is that you'll develop a short list of "almost as good as..." prospects who resemble the build and style of a successful QB but don't quite measure up in most if not all attributes.

Best we look at each QB prospect in terms of his unique assets and liabilities (at most developing a set of ideal attributes and seeing how well each prospect meets them).

And least not forget... any white WR in the draft must be compared to some white guy who plays for the Patriots lol
