I don't like this signing. Counsell was nice in 2001 but not now. To pay a guy who is mediocre 3 million to come off the bench is a waste. Hairston or Cintron can do that.

I agree. I dont think we really need both Clayton and Counsell, but at least we got them at a reasonable price.

What is with the local teams propensity to keep bringing back players that leave? Especially Colangelo influenced franchises?

Their trying to build a defense, you know, where the guys catch the ball that are hit to them, then throw it accurately to 1st base.
You really think Hairston or Cintron, especially, can do as well as Counsel?
They had the worst infield in the division last year, now perhaps the best, we'll see. Ground ball pitchers like Webb need guys who they feel confident in.

Our infield defense is still far behind San Diego and the Dodgers with Cora and Izturis up the middle. I would even put the Giants above them since they added Omar Vizquel.
