Counsell to the Tigers?

The Tigers likely would be interested in veterans with postseason experience. That would describe Arizona's Craig Counsell, who was at Triple-A when Dombrowski, then the Florida GM, acquired him at the 1997 trade deadline. Counsell (rib injury) is set to begin his rehabilitation assignment, but as of Wednesday had not been placed on waivers.
Even if the Diamondbacks decided to deal him, the NL/AL order would make it difficult for the Tigers to obtain him. San Diego infielder Mark Bellhorn was the everyday second baseman -- and a postseason hero -- for the Red Sox two years ago. Still, he is not a likely trade candidate, because the contending Padres like his versatility. Jose Vizcaino is available after the Giants designated him for assignment this week. Vizcaino, 38, had a game-winning hit for the Yankees during the 2000 World Series, and hit a game-tying, two-run single for the Astros in Game 2 of last year's World Series.

Wow that would be great if they could trade him...Great utility guy, but Callaspo could do the same thing for cheaper.

After going 0 for 6 in his first rehab start, Counsell went 2 for 5 in his second start yesterday.

"With the Mets having recently released Eli Marrero, the New York press was curious to know what's going on with Kaz Matsui, the player on the other end of the trade. Matsui continues to progress in Colorado Springs and is expected to be called up in September. The Tigers are seeking a middle infielder to replace Placido Polanco, but have not called about Matsui. They are focused on the Diamondbacks' Craig Counsell"

Aren't your Sox interested in Counsell or are they gonna stick with Uribe?

Not being a big Counsell guy, I think the Sox could do better. Cintron/Uribe are fine with me.
