Barring a last-second change, the Coyotes will open their 10th season in the Valley on Thursday, Oct. 5, against Rick DiPietro and the New York Islanders at Glendale Arena.

The NHL is expected to release its entire 2006-07 schedule on Wednesday.

The Coyotes have lost to the Islanders only once in seven home games since moving to Phoenix in 1996.

The other four teams in the Atlantic Division - New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and the New York Rangers - also will play at Glendale Arena this season, and will be the only teams from the Eastern Conference to visit the Valley.

The Coyotes will play at the teams in the Southeast Division (Stanley Cup champion Carolina, Atlanta, Florida, Tampa Bay and Washington), but will not play the teams in the Northeast Division until 2007-08.

If I could only choose one game to go to next season, it would be that one.

Full schedule released. Lots of weekend games this year, but this will be the second season in a row that the Coyotes have a grand total of ZERO Friday home games. I just dont understand that. The Rangers on Saturday, October 28th and the Pens on Saturday, January 27th are by far the two home games that excite me the most this year.

I wonder what the NLL contract deal is. Do they get the arena every Friday night?

I would have bought a partial season ticket if the Coyotes had a Friday and Saturday night package. :(

No, I dont think thats it. Last season when I saw the lack of Friday games, I looked to see if the arena was booked for concerts or other events. Most Fridays were wide open then, and Id suspect its the same situation this season.

Coyotes have a ton of Thursday and Saturday games. Thursdays, they offer the Bud Light special. Saturday is the family special.

Is that why the Coyotes are saying that people wanted to have Thursday and Saturday games?

Who wants to go on a Thursday?

All I am saying is that it's the same schedule format as last year. They had no Friday night games either. They have two specials:

1. Thursday Night -- Bud Light Friends Night Out
2. Saturday Night -- Family Night - get the hot dog and coke and discounted seats.

Check out the site:

It's not my idea, but I think it's the Coyotes plan . . .
