I really don't see how that makes us a better team but maybe it is because I am just not familiar enough with those players.

3rd. The Suns are playing good basketball and should be undefeated after the JRich trade.

Any changes that the Suns make this year will be minor. Next year I could see us shopping Nash.

1) Any rumor from Sam Smith, Peter Vecsey or any writer from hoopsworld.com (inluding Eric "Emplay" Picnus) should be treated as a complete fabrication. Because it is.

2) The Suns wont trade Nash because theyre plan is to let Nash and Shaq's contracts expire in 2010.

3) Shame on "FanBoy" for continuing to give this rumor life.

Trading Nash at this juncture would just be plain stupid. It's taken half a season for this team to gell and now you want to trade the person that runs it? Makes zero sense. If this had happened in the offseason it would have made more sense. I actually really like Jose Calderon. He is about as close to Nash as you can get and he plays better defense.

I just don't see why Toronto makes this trade?!?!?!?

I don't know if this trade would be so bad. Bargnani with Stat and Shaq is sick. Ya Nash is awesome but Calderon isn't garbage either. Great passer and a skilled free throw shooter. Plus he's good from the 3 point line too. This trade is pretty equal. I doubt the Raptors do it because there's no reason they should trade a PG like him for a veteran point and a center who has a long way to go before he does something. Bargnani would also add great free throw and three point shooting for a C.

This trade won't happen but I won't be sad if it went through.

If I read anything from "FanBoy" it is purely out of curiosity. It is not a source that I use for information. Anyone can pass on rumors.

Calderon would be a nice get... I'd just pray that Stoudemire doesn't leave because Suns would be taking on 3 decent sized contracts that go past 2010.

and unlike Diaw and Bell, losing those 3 players sting a little bit. IMO, I'm guessing the Raptors would make Trade based on Nash returning home and their need to improve athleticism. The Suns 3PT shooting would be great but they'll take a hit athletically and not sure how great those raptors players are defensively??

I like it more than I liked most of the other Nash Trade rumors over the summer (Nelson, Felton, etc.) though.

Would the be the record for most white people involved in a single trade?

CALDERON
RICHARDSON
HILL
STOUDEMIRE
SHAQ

ANTHONY PARKER
ANDREA BARGNANI
JASON KAPANO
JAMARIO MOON
LOU AMUNDSON
MATT BARNES

That seems like a lot of depth to me. But I don't know about allowing this to happen, it may be too late to try and pull a trade off like this. "Don't fix it if it isn't broken." I say we listen to that because the Shaq trade didn't seem like a good trade for marion until Richardson arrived.

So the Suns are 9-3 with Richardson, I'd leave it alone more than anything. They shouldn't make the same mistake twice because they got lucky with getting Jason Richardson imo.

The J-Rich deal was a shocker wasn't it. Who knew that moron Kerr could pull of something like that.

That's the same moron that brought Shaq to the Suns. God what an idiot Kerr is. I mean one bad trade after another.

Leandro is showing signs of returning to prious year form. Pull out all the "who's he" guys and the deal looks like Steve and Leandro for Calderon. Bargnani has been hot lately, but has not really lived up to his predraft hype.

In the playoffs Nash may be beat up, but he does lift his game. Calderon is promising, but he's not MVP Steve at crunch time.

So now the rumor has made its way to EVT and RealGM.com's NBA pages, each of them quoting Sam Smith.

Do they know they are regurgitating a completely illegitimate rumor?

From a blog my Paul Coro dated January 15th, 2009 from azcentral.

* There's been a surprising amount of buzz about bulls.com writer Sam Smith's column mentioning a Steve Nash trade to Toronto (http://www.nba.com/bulls/ne...). Anyone who has read Smith regularly over the years at the Chicago Tribune knows that this was Smith playing GM, a job he does as well as any writer. There aren't actual talks going on between Phoenix and Toronto. Smith always has been great at getting fans, and executives, thinking about possible deals by throwing out his suggestions and framing them as good for both teams. But that doesn't mean the Suns are going to trade Nash. Not at all. If anything, they are considering extending his contract.

I'm in favor of extending Nash. He still has more heart than anyone on the team, and as long as the Suns aren't going to win a title, they might as well be civil about it.

1 minute remaining Nash has the ball, Amare comes up high screen Nash rolls around and penetrates down the lane bounce pass to a cutting Amare, STOLEN!!! Sounds all too familiar doesn't it?

I love what Steve Nash has meant to our Suns. But isn't it obvious that he is not right for this team at this time?

There comes a point where strategy has to override nostalgia. And that's not easy for me to say, because I enjoy nostalgia.

I am not at all happy the Randy Johnson, for example, is not going to get victories 296-300 as an Arizona Diamondback . . . because he would have done so as a #3 or 4 starter, not as the centerpiece of the team . . . as is Steve Nash.

oh, good lord. if this team extends Nash's contract... I don't know... but jesus. give it up. the Nash era is over and it never even got us to a Finals. Stop trying to be the post-Finals freaking Stockton-Malone Jazz teams that just lingered in mediocrity for 6 years because they couldn't come to grips with the fact that their run was actually over.

extending Nash's contract... I love ya Nash and you were incredible your first three years here, but that's just the worst idea I've heard since Goran Dragic and Robin Lopez will be our back-up PG/C.

I dont think they mean increasing his contract, and I'd rather him stay here than go to another team, and an extension doesn't mean he will continue to be a centerpiece, or even a starter for that matter.
