One thing we can say as Cardinal fans is that we have seen some weird endings, as well as other times in games.

Here are my top 3

Good:

#1 Adams sack and the ball hitting the QB's foot bouncing up in the air and Dansby snagging it and scoring to beat GB. In addition it was the Cardinals second consecutive OT win without ever getting the ball on offense.

#2 Morey's block of the Dallas punt after the Cards tried to give the game to the Cowboys.

#3 Butler's winning FG against Dallas in '97 bouncing off the upright and going through causing the goal posts to take a tour of Mill Ave.

Bad:

#1 Of course losing to Chicago without giving up an offensive TD

#2 Losing to the Rams when Warner fumbled AFTER St.Louis had just fumbled the ball to the Cards with less than 2 minutes to play.

#3 Losing to the 49ers by giving up two successful 2 point conversions in the fourth quarter blowing a 16 point lead.

Aw memory lane...good stuff Duck!!!

good:

1) How bout the dramatic comeback against the Niners in the inagural season in Az? trailing 21-3, Lomax rallies the Cards in the 4th with a last second TD in the back of the endzone to Roy Green for a thrilling 24-23 victory

2) 1984 in St. Louis vs the Skins. My 1st ever road trip to see the Big Red. Green & Lomax toast Darrell Green all day & the Cards win on the last play with a O'Donoghue FG 26-24. What a Bday present my mom gave me.

3) The 1998 playoff game in Dallas. Dominating my hometowns team in every facet of the game & seeing the fans exit Texas Stadium in the middle of the 4th Qtr was priceless. Who will ever forget the 1-handed catch Frank Sanders made?

bad:

1) The 1984 week 16 loss to the Skins for the division title. Uggh. Lomax & Green put on a furious rally in the 4th qtr & lead until a bogus roughing the passer on Theismann against EJ Juinor that allows the Skins to kick a FG. Lomax led the Cards downfield with no timeouts for a FG attempt as the clock was running & the FG team ran onto the field. O'Donoghue's kicked sailed wide left on the final play. Cards lose playoff berth 29-27

2) Cards at Bengals on opening day in 1988. Cards have 1st and goal at the one-yd line & can't put the ball in the endzone in 4 trys. Stump Mitchell is stopped for a loss on the last play of the game.

3) 1998 vs Dallas at SDS. This was the Cards Super Bowl to prove they were for real. Plummer led a furious rally in the 4th qtr. Cards have 1 play to force OT from the Cowpie 10. The Snake lofts a jump ball for Rob Moore in the back of the endzone yet he is mugged by Larry Brown for an obvious PI. The refs swallowed their whistles & have never screamed at a football game like that.

bad for obvious reasons:
4) Martin Grammatica blows out ACL celebrating FG against Gmen
5) Al Del Greco's fake FG on MNF against Dallas from about 30 yds on the last play of the half.

Didn't one of Buddy Ryan's teams pull that same stunt?

Speaking of Buddy, how about him leaving the field before the game was over Christmas vs dallas?

Plenty of great memories, but unfortunately many more bad ones

Good:

3 week stretch in 1970:
Cardinals 44
Oilers 0

Cardinals 31
Patriots 0

All capped off with a 38-0 pasting of the Cowboys in Dallas in a Monday Night tilt. It left Dandy Don Meredith singing "Turn Out the Lights"

Bad:

Also 1970. Sitting at 8-2-1, the Cardinals lose their last 3 games & miss the playoffs. Charley Winner was fired after the season. The Cardinals proceed to have 3 straight 4-9-1 seasons under Bob Hollway.

Good
Don Coryell has a 3 year stretch where the Cardinals go (1974)10-4, ('75)11-3 & ('76)10-4.

Bad
In '77, Cardinals lose last 4 games, finish at 7-7 & Coryell is ousted. The next 3 years we went 6-10, 5-11 & 5-11. See a trend there?

how bout the classic 20-20 1983 game on MNF against the Giants when I believe O'Donoghue missed 3 potential GW FG's

Not a game but one of the goofiest/dumbest plays i remeber was on a Monday night game. It was the last play before halftime and the Cards lined up for about a 45 yard FG. Instead of kicking the FG as time expired, they tried a fake by having the holder do a no look toss over his shoulder to Al Del Greco. Del Greco got about 3 yards on the play. How is any kicker going to run 45 yards for a TD? It was so stupid , i had to laugh.

dishonorable mentions:

1) Steve Bono, naked bootleg for 95 yards (roughly)

2) Warner fumbling in the end zone against the 49ers.

That one still brings a tear to my eye.

1997 Opening Game at Cincinnati...I believe the Cards were up 21-0 in the fourth Qtr, only to lose 24-21. Centers had a few fumbles that game.

He's still running I think.

And Terry Hoage still gives me nightmares (worlds slowed safety)

How about the Cardinals having not one but two running backs that they gave up on only to have both guys resurrect their careers with another team and win "comeback player of the year". Hearst and Anderson.

Does anyone remember why the Cards traded OJ?

Also how about that game where the Cards tried some goofy sideline pass and ran out the clock out on themselves? I think it was either Tobin or McGinnis.

Late 90's home game against Dallas - 6-6 regulation - Dallas missed an extra point. Cards boot a FG to win in OT. Most painful and AWFUL cards victory I ever saw.

2002. That was an awful game. Over 700 yards of offense and only 1 TD between the two teams.

Sure were a lot of angry Cowboys fans leaving SDS that evening.

What is really bad is that the win got the Cards to 4-2 and then they promptly lost all but one of their remaining 9 games getting crushed several times.

49-0, 27-6, 38-14, 41-20, 37-7.

i remember this very well. it was the first home game EVER in Phoenix. Best part of the play was Del Greco somehow getting spun around and running forwards backwards before he got lit up by the D.

and of course, instead of 3 points, we got none... and lost 17-14. classic.

Just for you: http://video.yahoo.com/watch/442404/2482639

btw, i forgot until watching the video, that Rackers missed a 32 yard FG to win it in OT. Yep, we should bring him back. Top his credit he was able to knock through the tough 18 yarder to put into OT.

Here are my three.

1) One of the last Cardinal football game played at Busch Stadium against Tampa Bay in 1987. Big Red were done by a lot in the 4th qtr only to come back and score 28 points to win the game. Was overseas in the military at time. The country (England) I was in allowed people to bet on "American Football". A bunch of us (10) got together and made a bet (10 british pounds each) on a combination of 10 games including the Cardinals by betting on the point spread. Odds were 1000-1. In order to win we had to hit al of the games. We hit all of the games except for the Cards. We lost that game by a 1/2 point. Cost me about $25,000. I did make a side bet on the Cards to win staright up and made my money back but it still stung.

2) As mentioned earlier the game against the Redskins where the Cardinals lost on missed field goal from Neil Odonnell in the last minute to knock the Big Red from the playoffs.

3) OJ Anderson's first game as a rookie. He rushed for 193 yards against the Cowboys but the team lost on another missed field goal as I recall.

This one and the Steve Bono walk immediately jumped into my mind. How slow do you have to be to have an O-lineman tell you to hurry up?
