‘Creed’ Sequel Aims for November 2017 Release

http://variety.com/2016/film/news/creed-sequel-release-date-1201677171/

MGM is eyeing a November 2017 release date for the sequel to “Creed,” Variety has learned.

That would allow the film to open exactly two years after the first chapter starring Michael B. Jordan hit theaters. The Warner Bros. release has gone on to gross more than $105 million at the domestic box office and land Sylvester Stallone a Golden Globe for best supporting actor. “That’s my goal,” MGM CEO Gary Barber told Variety on Sunday night at the Golden Globes of his release plan, adding that the date hasn’t been set in stone yet.

If that's the date they're shooting for, that means it'll be made without Coogler, who wrote and directed Creed, who's dance card is full next couple years having just signed on for Black Panther. Hope they give it more time to bring the whole band back together because Coogler was instrumental in making Creed as great as it was.

Nooo! They'd better wait for Coogler. There's no way they should let anyone else touch this series after what Coogler was able to pull off.

Drago, really?

Come on Man!!!

yeah... I would have been really excited for this if not for a ridiculous Drago storyline continuation... or if Ryan Coogler was still writing/directing. That's not to say I won't go see it. It's Rocky and Michael B. Jordan. I'll see it but going in with really diminished expectations after a great first movie.

maaaaaan, I LOVED Creed. Thought it was picture perfect and probably my third favorite, maybe even tied for 2nd as far as the Rocky franchise was concerned behind only the original and I go back and forth between Creed and 2, but this was mediocre. PAINFULLY mediocre the further I get away from it.

Don't get me wrong... there's moments that work... that work VERY well, but others that should have been lifting me out of my seat had me sinking in it instead.

Made me a little sad tonight. The loss of a director/writer like Ryan Coogler from the first Creed to the second is beyond obvious with this one.

Yeah when I heard he was gone and Stallone was going to take it over I was pretty much out.

I’ll echo Cheese in this one. It was enjoyable but probably the most predictable movie I’ve seen this year. Did anyone NOT think this was pretty much a remake of Rocky 4?

The final fight was exciting to watch but the outcomes of all the fights were really never in any doubt.

The filmmakers missed a huge opportunity to flesh out the young Drago though. I felt like they were on the verge several times to make him more developed but they just missed the boat every time. Instead they just focused on his father looking broken and angry all the time. Drago wasn’t developed back in 1985 and he wasn’t anymore developed here.

I was hoping for something different but instead got more of the same—not just for Rocky but for Boxing/sports movies in general.

He also wrote the original Rocky. I'm not sure why he decided to go with remaking Rocky IV, but that fact wouldn't turn me off from seeing it in the first place.

Stallone jumped the shark along time ago. He's beaten the Rocky franchise into the ground
