After watching just one period of the Penguins vs the Rangers, I have decided to buy as many Rookie cards of this person as I possibly can. With too many words to describe how solid this kid is, I will simply call him a stud. Perhaps the fastest skater I have seen in the NHL, with a great shot and passing abilities this 18 year old is the future of the league.

There was one play that sticks out in my mind; Pitt. is changing lines while Crosby takes the puck towards the Ranger's goal with two defense men waiting for him. Where any other player would dump the puck behind the goal and skate off, this person tries to break through the defensemen and head towards the goal. Naturally, the D-men converge on him, when Crosby waits until the last possible second, pokes the puck between the D-men, hops over the sticks, lands, and shoots the puck while on his knees. There was nothing the Rangers players could do but hook/grab/whatever and receive a penalty to keep this center from scoring.

I tell you guys, anytime there is a Penguins game on... WATCH IT!!

That's pretty much why I bought the Center Ice package. :)

The vision on this guy is unbelievable. A joy to watch.

I didn't want to believe the hype, but damn, the kid is unreal. Pittsburg might as well have won the Powerball.

When is he free-agent eligible? I think it was 25 years old, but isn't there something about having X number of years in the league that would make him able to go FA earlier?

Nevermind found the answer. By 2008 UFA is available at 27 or seven years in the league. So at age 25, he will be making the league maximum and will have his pick of teams. Damn.

I wish you the best of luck if you are going to be collecting Crosby rookies, they are going to be extraordinarily pricy on the secondary market. His first one comes out in a few days if I remember right, whenever Upper Deck Series 1 comes out.

You can just tell that Crosby is going to be an amazing player for a long time in this league. I dont think he will be in the Gretzky/Lemieux category, but he has a strong chance to be one of the rare elite players in the game. I wouldnt say Sidney is the fastest player I have ever seen (that title probably belongs to Pavel Bure, the things he could do at full speed were jaw-dropping), but he has all the tools he needs and is exciting to watch.

This year is certainly going to be the Year of the Rookie in the NHL, there is so much exciting young talent coming in it is insane. You also have Alexander Ovechkin (my early vote for the Calder as top rookie), who has dazzling offensive skills and 10 goals in 14 games, as well as guys like Henrik Lundqvist, who has already won over the starting goaltending job in New York; Cam Ward, another solid goaltending prospect in Carolina; Dion Phaneuf, a future blueline monster, and even something to get excited about in Phoenix with our rookie trio of Ballard, Michalek, and LeNeveu. These are truly exciting times for the NHL.

I used to love to buy boxes of Upper Deck hockey cards. Sounds like I may need to buy one this year.

I have a Crosby card now. It isn't an actual rookie rookie card, but it wasn't too pricey and it is from last year... so some AHL or whatever.

I remember when I got several Lindros rookie cards in random packs. Should have sold them a few years later. He was an unbelievable player in his own right for a while, but you never know.

I had to leave the house after the Pens/Flyers finished regulation, but I am hoping to catch Crosby's game winner on the replay later. He looked good in the regulation time.

I really hope the NHL changes their schedule next year so we can see the East Coast teams out here. Crosby is good enough to sell out arenas already. It's amazing.
