After using seven pitchers Thursday night in their 9-6 victory over the Cardinals, the Cubs acquired another. They obtained right-hander Jesse Chavez from the Rangers, giving up lefty Tyler Thomas, who was 3-5 with a 2.88 ERA at low Class A South Bend. Chavez, 34, has pitched for eight teams.
