The Chicago Cubs will host the 2025 home opener starting at 1:20 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Wrigley Field after kicking off the regular MLB season in Tokyo.

Here's what you should know.

Who are the Cubs playing Friday, April 4?

The Cubs will be up against the San Diego Padres on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Where can I watch the game?

The game will air on the Marquee Sports Network, which can be accessed via cable or satellite, the Marquee Sports Network App or at WatchMarquee.com.

DirecTV, Xfinity and Verizon Fios typically carry the channel in the Chicagoland area, while networks like FOX, FS1, ESPN or TBS broadcast games nationally. The game will also be live-streamed on Fubo, DirecTV, and MLB.TV.

Cubs.com and the radio stations 670 The Score and TUDN WRTO 1200AM will also be broadcasting the home opener, according to an MLB press release.

Where to buy tickets

You can buy tickets for the home opener game on the MLB website for anywhere between $81 and $269 before fees. Hurry up, though, because tickets are selling out fast.

Pre-game festivities

Fans can expect a plethora of traditional events before the game, including an on-field flag presentation by Cubs Season Ticket Holders and a USAF C-130 Hercules flyover by the 182nd Airlift Wing of the Illinois Air National Guard. Chicago native and musician Alleece Baker will also sing “God Bless America,” John Vincent will sing the national anthem, and Cubs Hall of Famers will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sing the seventh inning stretch.

Fans are encouraged to welcome the team back to Wrigley by lining up along the blue carpet outside the Toyota Highlander Lot on Waveland Ave from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

When do gates open at Wrigley Field?

Gates will open two hours before the first pitch for Opening Day, Saturday games and special occasions. They will open 90 minutes before for most other games.

Special Cubs magnets will be gifted to the first 30,000 fans who arrive.

Special home opener menu

Wrigley Field will be offering a new rotating menu this season at the Marquee Classics concession stand located near section 117, which is set to feature 50 dishes over the course of the regular season with four new items per homestand.

The initial menu offered between April 4 and 9 will have the following:

  • Jibarito Sandwich: A Chicago favorite with a twist featuring roast beef, garlic aioli, lettuce, tomato, fried plantains and garlic butter.
  • Kimchi Burger: Plant-based burger, kimchi, hoisin aioli, broccoli slaw on a toasted sesame bun.
  • Sticky Pork Bao: Sticky pork bao buns, Napa cabbage, shredded carrots, pickled Fresno peppers and cilantro.
  • Chili Lime Fries: Crispy fries, Tajín seasoning, cotija cheese and corn crema.
