I just read an article that stated whoever the Cardinals hire as head coach will be required to keep some of McGinnis' staff. Apparently, they have another year left on their contracts. This item may eliminate certain high profile coaches from the Cardinals list (ie-Fassel, Coughlin or Green).

Here is the Cardinal coaching staff. Of this list who do you think is most likely going to keep their job?

Defensive Line Joe Greene
Special Teams Hank Kuhlmann
Defensive Coordinator Larry Marmie
Strength and Conditioning Bob Rogucki
Running Backs Johnny Roland
Linebackers Jeff FitzGerald
Quarterbacks Geep Chryst
Offensive Coordinator Jerry Sullivan
Assistant Offensive Line/Offensive Quality Control Mike Devlin
Special Teams Assistant/Defensive Quality Control Stan Kwan
Offensive Line Pete Hoener
Defensive Backs Ron Milus
Receivers Tyke Tolbert
Tight Ends Marty Galbraith
Assistant Defensive Line Coach Cary Godette
Strength and Conditioning Intern Ryan Capretta

Please provide the source?

A lot of stuff is written about the Cards front office and ownership that is total nonsense.

But this report could be partially true. I do know management WANTED many of these assistants fired last year.

Only FitzGerald, Roland, and Sullivan, IMO might possibly return.

I think we will get rid of Tolbert and move Jerry back down to WR coach.

I still think Tolbert has the best shot at being retained...for two reasons:

1. Boldin (he told us to pick him) and the success he has had.
2. He is in his first year - and boldin and johnson seem to like him alot - so they might give him another shot..

Sullivan will be elsewhere..I doubt a new coach would want to retain him as the OC....but who knows.. Sullivan will go elsewhere if he wants to be a receiver coach - he would not step down and do the receivers job here - amongst other reasons is that his protege tolbert would have to be let go to free up a slot..

I'm assuming you mean this artilce on ESPN. If so this is a classic case of Chinese wispers, where the story gets distorted at every retelling.

"McGinnis, whose contract runs through the 2004 season, is likely to be job-hunting by January. What isn't so likely, however, is a full-scale housecleaning, as most of his assistant coaches are expected to stick around until their current contracts expire."

It says nothing about "being required" to keep them. It says "they are expected to stick around". Expected by who ? The mail room clerk, who ?

It's a classic case of the media deciding on the story then writing it. The general theme is the Bilwill's suck, therefore lets write everything with this in mind and blame everything on them and say nothing about the changes they are trying to make.

Then you go off and make it sound worse than they did.

Any coach we hire who is forced to keep any of our assistants will be just another disaster. If he wants to keep a couple of them, fine. But the new coach should have total control of who is on his staff.

We need to clean house. When Tobin was fired, I said it would be a mistake if ANY of the staff returned, including McGinnis. These coaches and players have too long of a relationship based on losing and underachieving, I don't care what quotes they put out.

Guys, this is fanasy, there is nothing to discuss.

SMAC made it up (or at least seriously exagerated), nobody has said this. Enough already.

I don't think the new coach will be forced to keep any current assistants. Not even Donald Sterling is that stupid.
