As were only a few days away from cut day I thought I'd put down how I see the 53 because I'm bored, and there isn't much to talk about.

QB - Murray, Hundley

RB - Drake, Edmonds, Benjamin

WR - Hopkins, Fitzgerald, Kirk, Johnson, Isabella, Sherfield, Dixon

TE - Williams, Arnold, Daniels

OL - Humphries, Pugh, Cole, Sweezy, Beechum, Murray, Gaillard, Jones, Toth

DL - Philips, Peters, Allen, Fotu, Lawrence, Dogbe

OLB - Jones, Kennard, Reddick, Reggie Walker

ILB - Hicks, Campbell, Simmons, Weaver, Vallejo, Turner

S- Baker, Thompson, Thompson, Brice, Washington

CB - Peterson, Kirkpartrick, Murphy, Jones, Peterson

Specialists - Gonzalez, Brewer, Lee

PS - Streveler, Joshua Miles, Max Garcia*, Miles Brown, Bullard, Gardeck, Jonathan Ward, Jace Whittaker, Fitts, Trevon Coley, Hakeem Butler, JoJo Ward

*PS rules changed this year so teams can have 2 players with their accrued season on the PS.

To explain some of my thinking.

I don't see them keeping 3 QB on the roster when you can protect a QB on the PS.

I don't see them keeping 4 RB's for the same reason. Ward would be most likely but why when you can bring him off the PS if needed?

I kept Dixon over JoJo Ward at WR due to his one year more in the system and he offers the same speed in a more NFL sized package. But you can flip that either way really. I don't see Butler making the 53.

I don't think they keep Max Garcia. Gaillard can cover inside and they already mentioned Murray covering there too. They seem to like Toth after investing a roster spot in him last year so he sticks.

I included Reggie Walker at OLB for one reason only. The other options offer no hope. Fitts is garbage and Gardeck is a desperation move. I heard Walker has looked good in camp, I'm hoping good enough to offer some upside.

It's a toss up between Zeke Turner and Gardeck for dedicated ST's. Moving Gardeck to OLB might seal his fate but toss up either way.

I here they like Jace Whittaker at CB but can't see them going that way over Jones or Kevin Peterson when they both know the defense much better and have experience. Plus he's more a slot guy so Whittaker goes to the PS.

They kept 5 Interior DL last year, I've included 6 this year. I think they go with 6 because of the two they took in the draft and they had so many injuries there last year I think they go deeper at the position.

They may keep Streveler on the active team as he can also play ST.

i thought the practice squad is 16 players this year, with 6 having to be vets or something?

I think they will. Apparently Kliff said the backup job is still not decided today, and they are having him practice special teams.

That's not entirely true. He's never played ST's. They tried him there in camp but don't see anyway they play QB3 on ST's in a Covid year.

It is 16 but they always grab some guys off waivers. I only put the guys on PS I think they might keep and kept other spots free for pickups.

Bullard (Dogbe)
Garcia (Toth)
Gardeck (Walker)
Banjo (Brice)

Tossed all these around.

Went with Dogbe because he turned up for camp in great shape apparently and has looked really good. Bullard seems to have hit his ceiling as an average run stopper.

Garcia has missed 2 seasons with injury and was a poor player before. They kept Toth on the 53 last year even though he couldn't play which suggests they like him. But could go either way.

Gardeck same. Walker is gone so assume you mean Turner. But yes those guys are 50/50. Went Gardeck purely because they kicked him to OLB and they may have had him put on weight.

The Brice/Banjo one is less close. Banjo is 31. He's not a guy you really want on D. They need a vet with playing ability and Brice is better.

Buf yeah all these back end guys are tough to call. There's always some head scratchers.

Bullard because stopping the run is precisely what I wanted.

I'll go with the Garcia experience at guard. Toth is a project.

You listed Walker at OLB, not Gardeck.

Banjo because of his ST play.

Zero chance we keep 4 OLB’s and 6 ILB’s and Max Garcia isn’t going anywhere.
Having to face the Covid procedure in case of a player being positive and the risk others can be infected i think they must consider also players without injury concerns

Zero chance? Why?

It's exactly what they did last year.

The final 53 in 2019 were CJ, Suggs, Reed and Robertson at OLB and Reddick, Hicks, Walker, Gardeck, Turner and Vallejo at ILB.

That's 4 and 6.

They keep 6 ILB's because those back end guys are often the core of ST's.

I know that these guys are long shots to make the team, but I'm hoping that a couple of them will. Consider:

W = Winning. It is also the first letter of five guys that I hope make the team.

Ward (WR)
Ward (RB)
Weaver (ILB)
Walker (OLB)
Whittaker (CB)

If they are cut I expect all of them to be added to the PS. JMO.

Questions and Answers (Mine):
QB-2 or 3? 3
RB-3 or 4? 3
WR-6 or 7? 6 (Butler gone)
OL- 9 or 10? 9 (that's an easy one)
Offense-24 or 25 or 26? 24

DL-6 or 7? 6
ILB-5 or 6? 6
OLB-4 or 5? 4 (Reddick gone)
CB-5 or 6? 6 (that's a hard one)
S-4 or 5? 4 (another hard one)
Defense-25 or 26? 26

We'll know soon.

Curious to see if butler makes the team. We haven't had a chance to see him play.
