DBacks will be down 3 of their top 4 hitters. Hopefully they can tread water.

Feel bad for the guy. Confidence was at an all-time high and his torrid hitting proved it.

Hope he comes back 100%

Wow, that really sucks. Horrible timing.

I want to give Young a big, um ... thumbs up (sorry Mr. Upton) for his great start to the season. Then I have to ask:

You've played ~400 games in centerfield at Chase Field. Thanks for your constant hustle, but how did you not know where you were on that play? It's 2.5 steps to the wall for you from the start of the warning track, about 1.5 if you're striding ... just asking ...

You make the catch, no matter where you are at. If he gave up on the ball to avoid injury he would be getting killed for it.

Some centerfielders make plays with reckless abandon. Steve Finley comes to mind, and he spent much of his career on the DL. Chris Young has been better than that. He seemed unaware of his footwork getting to that ball. He could've made that play with better body control. I hope this is not a trend or we will always need a 4th outfielder who can play CF.

'Sorry, but I absolutely disagree. Giving up on the ball because he was about to crash into the wall is not worse than being on the DL for weeks. That is what the warning track is there for. It is indeed a ballplayer's responsibility to the team and its fans to use discretion.

It is ironic that you've compared CY to Fins. Both stubbornly uppercutted every every hit ball into the air. At least, Young has discovered the folly of it, whereas Finley never did.

I tend to agree with this. I was surprised also. I'm not saying it was an easy play, it's just one CY makes without injury.

Bring back the old dirt-grass strip-dirt warning track :) Though I think they only had that for one year.
