Adam LaRoche cleared waivers this week, but that does not appear to have any bearing on his future in Arizona.

The Diamondbacks have approached the LaRoche camp regarding a long-term contract extension. Talks are in the very preliminary stages, and no concrete proposals have been made, but LaRoche made it sound as if he were interested in sticking with the D-Backs for the long haul.

Allen had been playing LF earlier this season. The current 3B coach was formerly the roving OF instructor for the organization, and I recall hearing/reading that Allen was doing ok out there. Allen was a pretty decent football player as a high schooler.

I think Allen in LF could be a good move, he could end up starting there next year for the D'Backs, only Parra challenges him. I like LaRoche, he has put critics to rest who said he was only a second half player. Well the guy has been the most consistent offensive player on the team next to Kelly Johnson, whom I'd also like to see get extended. Johnson reminds me of Dan Uggla, not a fielder at all but his offense more than makes up for it.

The guy whom I think gets traded is Reynolds. Lets face it folks the guy will get you 30 HR's but will net you a .220 average and nearly 200 K's a year. Deal him to a AL team looking for a DH and hopefully get a 3B prospect in return or look at Anthony Rendon in next years draft.

Reynolds is too good of an athlete to play DH. He has been great defensviely this season at 3rd/.

Umm, no he hasn't. He has 17 errors (while playing 3rd base) already this season compared to 19 (while at 3rd) all last season.
Mark Reynolds' acrobatic plays at 3B get the attention, but his overall fielding, just as his immense quantity of strikeouts, hurt the team in the long run.

Just as his HR and RBI totals look pretty good, while his 0-4 with 3 strikeout games hurt the team.

I like Mark and I've wanted him to do well, but his erratic performance best suits a last place team.

Baseball has had plenty of them. Back in the '50's, Ralph Kiner led or tied for the NL in homeruns for, I think, ten straight years. But his teams floundered in last place, season after season.

At least his batting averages weren't as low as Mark's .217's.

Why do people keep implying he is a career .217 hitter? Trading Reynolds now would be as stupid as trading Chris Young last year.

I'd just like to point out that aside from the painfully flawed analogy above, there is nothing Reynolds and Ralph Kiner have in common.

Try Dean Palmer or even a much less talented Mike Schmidt.
