D-backs hit four straight homers

MILWAUKEE -- The Arizona Diamondbacks tied a major league record by hitting four straight home runs in the fourth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night.

Trailing 2-0 entering the fourth inning, the Diamondbacks went deep four times against Dave Bush.

Adam LaRoche started it off with his 19th home run of the season into the Diamondbacks' bullpen.

Miguel Montero followed by hitting a shot into the second deck in right field, his sixth. Mark Reynolds was next with his 26th of the season to left, and Stephen Drew capped the run with his seventh of the season to right.

Chris Young almost made it five home runs in the inning as he flied out to deep center for the final out.

Bush is the first pitcher in the majors to give up four straight home runs since the New York Yankees' Chase Wright did it against the Boston Red Sox on April 22, 2007. Wright pitches for the Brewer's Triple-A Nashville team.

The four straight home runs was the first time it happened in Diamondbacks history. Arizona is the seventh team in major league history to hit four straight homers.

They also won the game 8 - 2 with Hudson winning his 3rd straight game as a DBack. Gibson has them playing as a team!!!

And Hudson also cleared the bases with a 3-run double. We have seen some good hitting pitchers on the D'backs this year.

Welp this and the no hitter are probably the lone two highlights of an otherwise forgettable season.

Isn't relying on HRs to win the game the wrong strategy to take? I thought this was the major complaint of Hinch?

The DBacks are 5-0 when hitting 2 or more HRs and 7-1 when hitting at least 1 HR in Aug.

I agree but unfortunately the team appears to have been built on power. They need some good solid .300 B/A hitters with speed. Not sure if they have any.

Well if you want to look at it another way the D-Backs scored a run of Upton's fielder's choice and then 3 off Hudson's double. Those four runs would have been enough to win the game. But yes, we rely on the homer too much.

but I don't think we are, anymore. We are taking walks, running, etc.

The four HR's are a fluke, but any team wins some games on HR's.

If you look at the inning with Hudson's double - four runs, all from walks, solid hits.

CY laid off a pitch to draw a walk that earlier he would have swung at.

Baby steps, but headed in teh right direction

As I said, they are 7-1 with a HR and 1-2 without one. "Some games" equals the vast majority of "Gibson turning it around".

We're not taking anymore walks than we did under Hinch and although we're running more we're also getting thrown out at a higher rate taking base runners off the field.
