Championship!!!!
By Ed Price, Tribune
Former All-Star first baseman Will Clark was at Bank One Ballpark on Monday to discuss joining the Diamondbacks in some capacity.
CEO-designate Jeff Moorad was Clark’s agent throughout his playing career.
"I want to sort of feel these guys out and see what they said," Clark said.
"This is nothing formal. Jeff and I have been friends for 20 years. He wanted me to come in and talk. And we’ll talk."
Clark, 40, retired after the 2000 season with a .303 lifetime average. He has been a spring-training instructor with the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis the past couple of years.
He spent the game in the owners’ suite with Moorad and owners Ken Kendrick and Dale Jensen.
FALL GUYS
Corey Myers, the overall No. 4 pick in the 1999 draft from Desert Vista High School, who this year converted from infielder to catcher, will replace Chris Snyder on the roster of the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League.
Snyder was given the fall off in light of his call-up and significant playing time down the stretch.
Also, right-hander Justin Wechsler will take the Scottsdale roster spot that had been held for No. 1 draft pick Stephen Drew.
SHORT HOP
Shane Nance said an MRI on his left knee showed a small cartilage tear. Nance, who has already had three surgeries for tears in the same cartilage, said no course of action has been determined.
