Former Tennessee basketball player Dalton Knecht totaled 12 points, three rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes for the Lakers. He converted 4-of-10 field goal attempts, 3-of-7 three-point attempts and 1-of-2 free throw attempts.
LeBron James did not play for Los Angeles and Luka Doncic scored 20 points for the Lakers. Los Angeles will next play against Milwaukee on Thursday. Tipoff is slated for 10:30 p.m. EDT.
Knecht was selected in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft (No. 17 overall) by the Lakers.
He was a transfer from Northern Colorado and played for the Vols in the 2023-24 season under head coach Rick Barnes.
During his one season at Tennessee, Knecht averaged 21.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He led the Vols to an SEC regular-season championship and an appearance in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history.
Knecht was named SEC Player of the Year, SEC Newcomer of the Year and won the Julius Erving Award.
