Dalton Knecht has been slowly but gradually establishing himself as a legitimate sharpshooter in the NBA. Although the rookie has been seemingly in and out of the Los Angeles Lakers' rotation this season, he has shown progress over time, especially since the All-Star break.
In his last 16 games, he has averaged 11.1 points in 20.9 minutes a game while shooting 47.8% from the field and 43.4% from 3-point range. He is starting to show that perhaps the Lakers were a bit hasty in adding him to the failed Mark Williams trade in early February.
One sign that a pro athlete has made it is when he gets his first corporate partnership. On Friday, Southern California-based restaurant chain El Pollo Loco announced that Knecht has joined it as its first-ever official athlete partner.
El Pollo Loco was originally founded by Juan Ochoa in 1975 and primarily had locations in Mexico. In 1980, Ochoa brought the chain to downtown Los Angeles, and by 1990, it had established at least 200 locations throughout the area. It now has restaurants in several other states, mostly in the Southwest.
