Damian Lillard is on his way back to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks all-star guard has been out indefinitely with blood clots in his right calf since late March and is missing Game 1 of the team's first-round playoff series against the Indiana Pacers.

But after earlier in the week given the green-light to resume full basketball activities, Lillard is now expected to return to action in Games 2 or 3 of the series, ESPN reported on April 19.

Here's the latest on Lillard's status.

After getting good news throughout the week on his prognosis, Lillard is expected to return to play during the series against the Pacers.

Game 2 or 3 is now the expectation, ESPN's Shams Charania said on ESPN ahead of Game 1.

Lillard hasn't played in a game since March 18 with what was first thought as a sore calf muscle. But further testing revealed he had deep vein thrombosis, or blood clots, in his right calf a week later.

The Bucks ruled him out indefinitely and Lillard went on blood thinning medication. But the team didn't rule him out for the rest of the season despite the usual timetable for a recovery from a blood clot.

But early detection and treatment were key, his doctors and specialists said.

If Lillard returns at any point in the playoffs, he will be the first player in 10 years to come back in the same season after a DVT diagnosis.

When Lillard spoke to the media on April 18 he didn't give a timetable on his return.

"Looking back I think you just gotta not take each day for granted because you never know when an issue could come up," Lillard said.

But his recovery has continued to go exceptionally well as he ramps up to more basketball activities that he could now be ready on April 22 or April 25.
