I have the uncomfortable feeling our rebounding weakness will show it's ugly head again!! Also, we have been dropping way off the three shooters!! I am feeling we are in for a let down year!! Or that could just be general malaise of being a Charger and Dback fan!!

When Jake and Amare BOTH fouled out, I told the wife it was going to haunt us somehow. True to form the smallest guy on the floor, Anthony Carter, grabbed a rebound and layed it in for the winning score. Also, on the other end, I can't help but think Amare would have grabbed one of those boards and slammed it home for the win for us!! Hey, if a lose can be called good, we at least proved we could play with the big boys!! Tony Parker being out didn't hurt the Spurs, it probably helped with the way Starbury is abusing him!! :) I liked Steve Kerr as the new color guy!! His bit with ALL of his Championship rings was cool!! He has the jewelry for a rap video!! :)

Don't be giving yourself a pat on the back too soon. :)

Up until that point, we were winning the battle of the rebounds--and case in point, we DID win the battle of the rebounds. And the offensive rebound by Carter was achieved ONLY because Zarko Cabarkapa was blatantly fouled by Robert Horry on the play.

Chap, I didn't see where Cabarkapa was fouled. What happened?

I'm with you. I was very happy with the rebounding and defense.

If you watch the replay - you see Zarko in position to get that last rebound and Horry pulls his ass away from it, leaving that gaping hole for Carter to snatch the board - but those plays happen at the end of games and we were on the road against the champs - and Zarko's a rook - those are the breaks and you just got to roll with 'em.

I understand the whole rookie thing, but that was blatant, it wasn't a little push. Both Horry and Z were facing the basket, when the ball bounced off the rim, Horry's left arm swung out, he grabbed Zarko and Z almost hit the floor. In hindsight, Z should have probably flopped, the refs might have called it then.

I am surprised Vlade didn't teach him the art of flopping yet. :D

Who did we have in the game at that time to try to rebound? I think it was Zarko, Marion and Googs and Zarko was the only guy on that side of the court. I was wondering how come he kept falling backwards when he had inside position. Oh that's right, that was the play where 6'1 Carter made a layup over 6'10 Googs who couldn't jump high enough to block the shot. I don't think Googs even has a credit card vert anymore, it's more like a thumbtack vert.

Horry was schooling the rookie all night. Yea he fouled him on that play.

Earlier on a rebound under the basket Zarko had his hand on Horry's back and when the rebound came off Horry threw himself forward. Zarko's hand never moved so I don't think he was pushed. Horry got the foul called on Zarko for pushing in the back.

And while we are on bad calls. Did anyone else see Rose climb on Voskul's back to get that block. He had his left hand on Jake's shoulder while he got the block with his right.

AND! The foul on Amare trying to block Manu. Manu threw his elbow right into Amare throat.

Having a DVR rules. I can look at the reply even if the network doesn't.

There were certainly some bad calls and no calls in that game, but I thought it went both ways. On the Spurs possession that followed Rose's "block" on Little Jake I can't remember exactly what happened, but I do remember commenting that it was a payback call.

What was with Trybanski's 30 second appearance? I was hoping we would see more of him. Of course according to Frank Johnson that would mean that the team was in big trouble. :)

Yeah, all the teeth gnashing about the size of this team and the defense seemed a bit premature in preseason. The defense all in all looked pretty solid, and Duncan by no means dominated the game, as you would expect a MVP to do. 9 times out of 10 they pull that game out, but it is the first game, so I am not too worried.

That was the worst call of the night. Malik pushed Jake's shoulder down with his left hand, while his right hand swatted the ball away. It was almost perfect the way that Malik performed it, as if he practiced it.

The worst thing about it, was that the announcers were praising Malik for such a good block?

Oh well. Tomorrows a new game.

Well Joe, it's like this... It was a mistake - FJ likes Trybanski almost as much as he liked Big Jake:D . Other demeaning coments he has made during the preseason are downright dumb.... such as degrading the number of blocks Trybanski had in the short time he played :stupid:

Zarko did pretty good for his first time and I give FJ credit for giving him some PT. I think when Williams get back in the lineup, Suns will be a better team as FJ doesn't seem to mind giving him some time and Williams is worth about 15 min before he fizzels out.
