When the Boston Celtics play the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, it will be another friendly reminder of what could have been. That’s because Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of the NBA’s most electrifying talents, very easily could have been a member of the Celtics. Boston held the No. 16 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, which took place just hours after the C’s traded Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge swung a trade with the Dallas Mavericks that, essentially, allowed the C’s to move up to the No. 13 spot to select Kelly Olynyk.
