Burns: Maciej Lampe, how much and when can we expect to see him in the rotation any time?

D’Antoni: I don’t know yet. We’re talking about a kid that should be in high school. His practice today – we didn’t know much about him – we had a couple of our players, especially Barbosa, look at him and say, “Oh my God, what is this?” This guy’s 6-11½, 275, great skill; shoots three, behind his back dribble, down between his legs, throwing passes like you wouldn’t believe. I thought he’d go on the injured list and maybe in a couple of years, we’ll see what happens, but after today’s practice… We have three more practices and we’ll see what happens, but hopefully we can use him. KTAR

He's listed at 240. If he is 275 he is a lot bigger than we were led to believe.

Man, that's good to hear... like I said in my post last night if anyone has the potential to make this trade into a real winner it's Lampe. With Marbury we probably could have gotten by with a center that didn't contribute much to the offense but without him we need all we can get. And we need it in a high post center. It sure as heck sounds like Lampe fits the bill for that. He's even got the size to defend opposing centers down on the block! I don't care if he can dribble behind his back or between his legs - if he can shoot from the high post, pass well and defend in the paint he's a perfect fit! If he can take it to the hoop, too, that's frosting on the frosting.

Of course we don't want to push him too fast... I'd say hold off starting him at center for at least a week...

Actually, the Suns just re-hired Frank Johnson as head coach, and he went on reccord stating that Howard Eisley would be starting at center.

LOL!

The Suns needed a center who could knock down the midrange and outside shots while Marbury was here also. The Suns offense looked great when Scott Williams was hitting his shots. It opened everything up for everyone else.

I have been wondering if Williams is on the IR because he is actually injured. What a concept? :D
