Canton native Darryn Peterson added to his growing list of basketball awards and accolades.

The former star at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy was named a co-MVP of the McDonald's All-American Game at the Barclays Center, home of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets. Peterson helped lead the West to a 105-92 victory Tuesday night.

The Kansas signee, and the No. 3 recruit in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Peterson won the 2025 Naismith High School Player of the Year Trophy last month. In February, an ESPN 2026 NBA mock draft projected him as the No. 1 overall pick next year.

Also playing for the West was Green native Niko Bundalo. The Washington signee was a Prolific Prep teammate of Peterson's after beginning his career at Green High School. Bundalo scored 12 points.

Boozer scored 16 points to go with a game-high 12 rebounds for the East. His dad, Carlos Boozer, is a former NBA star who began his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
