Here is what Fitz actually said:

“I can’t give you my true feeling because people might get upset with what I really feel, but Mike is like my brother,” Fitzgerald said Thursday. “I’ve known Mike since he was 13 years old; we come from the same place. I love him dearly.

Doesnt mention the team. The media assumed and reported it like he was talking about the team.

Michael Vick is an apt comparison for what Washington is facing in his comeback. A guy who is not technically sound player. Wins with athleticism vs technique. Out of the game for multiple years. Washington is a little older.

I have a touch time seeing Washington having much impact in a comeback. 28 is about the time LBs have to become better technical players. I don't know that Washington can transition into that type of player.

No way will Bidwill and Keim allow him back on the team. He lied to them while taking the $10 million bonus.

he's probably outta that NFL money, "well ****, guess it's time to go back"
This. ARZ can finally cut him meaning no more roster bonuses he can collect so now he breaks his silence about planning on applying for reinstatement. Funny that he waits until the season is over. If he is serious he should sign with ARZ for the minimum to make up for all the money he got for nothing, that is if ARZ will have him.

BTW, the best ILBs seem to all have a screw loose on the verge of psycho... I am going to throw Washington's character concerns out the window because I want a freaking Championship and for me Washington at 80% would be excellent :)

Guys. We cut a RB who had one solitary domestic incident but was otherwise a model teammate and citizen with zero hesitation. If Washington comes back, it won't be with us. Pointless to discuss.

It happened before the rule change.

Thanks for the education. I didn't realize.

According to Revenge of the Birds: In light of the backlash of the Ray Rice suspension, the NFL announced a new policy for cases of violence -- domestic abuse and sexual assault. The new policy could affect Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington, who is currently suspended for the year under the league's substance abuse policy.

The bolding is mine. Anyone know if that "could" is correct?

Maybe that's been the sticking point all along...a quiet agreement with the NFL already in place. Instead of applying for reinstatement earlier and being suspended/banned again, he just waits and delays his reinstatement.

Whether you are for or against pot the issue is that he didnt follow the rules. And we arent talking about some obsure thing that is hard to define. We are talking about something that has been in place for years. And the consequences have been in place as well. It isn't even hard to cheat the system. Every player knows when the tests are. Just dont smoke before that and you are good to go. Dwash didnt get suspended for smoking weed. He got suspended for being dumb.

I agree,

Just saying it is a bunch of crap that it is even a rule and that it can rob the fans of elite talent.

This guy was barely on the team for weeks if I recall. If Fitz or Carson did the same thing, (that Dwyer did) they wouldn't be cut. The player's quality and how much they mean to the team definitely factor in.

To Arians, it might not mean anything as Washington hasn't really played for him much, but still.

He was an Arians guy from the Steelers that ended up getting a fair amount of snaps early on... the cut was pretty relevant in how fast it happened for being one of "Arians' guys."
