New Los Angeles Rams receiver Davante Adams has been a part of some frustrating franchises recently.
He played a little more than two seasons with Las Vegas Raiders before finishing the 2024 season with the New York Jets. Those teams combined to go 18-22 with Adams on their roster. Adams also endured quarterback, head coach and other major changes during the past three seasons.
Now, he joins a Rams squad with a lot of stability at head coach, quarterback and across the organization. That was a bit part of why he joined the team, but Adams also made it a point to explain that he didn't cause any dysfunction but is willing to take the blame if his history follows him to L.A.
Odds are it wasn't Adams that caused the problems in Las Vegas and New York. There didn't seem to be too many issues when he became his career with the Green Bay Packers from 2014 to 2021. Those teams went to the postseason six times in an eight-season span.
This is part of that joke of what Adams was saying about the root of the dysfunction during his past three NFL seasons not being him. And it's why he ultimately chose to join the Rams. That, plus the geographic location to his hometown in East Palo Alto as well as the team's winning culture.
Adams, at the very least, should unlock another good offensive year for the Rams. While L.A. moved on from Cooper Kupp, the team still has one of the best young pass-catchers in Puka Nacua and one of the best young running backs in Kyren Williams. Oh yeah, and Matthew Stafford is still under center.

“Well, first I’ve got to make sure it’s not me,” Adams told The Athletic's Michael Silver. “So, we’re going to get over there and see. If it gets dysfunctional, it means that I was the one making those organizations dysfunctional.”

“The most important thing," Adams added, "was (joining) a good, winning team."
