Special Guest David Barrett Reviews Bruce Almighty
Starring:Jim Carrey, Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Aniston, Catherine Bell, Philip Baker Hall, Lisa Ann Walter, Steve Carell, Nora Dunn
Director(s) Tom Shadyac
Studio Universal
Rating: PG13
Barrett’s Summary
Basically God gives Jim Carrey, who plays the role of a news reporter, all of his powers to use any way he chooses. The only thing he can’t change is a person’s free will. In the beginning, he uses all of his powers to benefit himself and doesn’t realize he can help others or how difficult the task is of answering people’s prayers. In this process, he realizes he was blaming God for things he could take care of himself.
Barrett’s Take
It’s a very good comedy. Jim Carrey is Jim Carrey. He’s just a funny guy and is definitely fit for the part. Jennifer Anniston – she’s just gorgeous. You can’t really say enough about her. But, really the movie is all about Jim Carrey. It has an uplifting ending and is an interesting way for everything to come together. The special effects are limited but they are good too. I definitely recommend seeing this movie if you are in the mood for some laughs.
