Stern just gave an 8 minute interview on PTI. For the most part he just gave canned answers, was very smug, and said a lot of the same things he said on the Dan Patrick show. However, there were two interesting things said:

1. He said Amare and Boris "ran" up the sideline, which is a factually untrue statement. He also said a ref had to hold Amare back, also an untrue statement. It makes it seem like Stern didn't even watch the video, or if he did, he didn't watch it enough to remember what happened.

2. Stern says he thinks its a good rule and shouldn't be changed. Thats the craziest thing I've heard, even people who are happy that the letter of the law was followed seem to want the rule to be changed.

Anyway, if you get a chance to catch it, its pretty interesting, Stern comes off very robotic and smarmy.

The wrong end of a Tequila bottle.
Stern looked like a complete ass, and I'm thinking he may have just put himself behind the eightball in the court of public opinion. Look for a much less cordial relationship with the media, players union and owners. He screwed the pooch.

Wilbon said right at the end of PTI "If the Lakers could win that game w/ out Kareem, the Suns can win tonight w/ out Amare"- I think/hope he's right.

For your sakes I hope so. Although, to paraphrase Pitino, 'I don't see Magic walking through that door'.

Regardless, I wish nothing but good luck Suns. I hope you raise a big middle finger to David Stern, Stu Jackson, the NBA, and especially Bruce Bowen and the Spurs, and beat their asses tonight. I couldn't think of a better 'F' you, than that.

If it makes you feel any better, I know that you guys are now America's team, because everyone outside of San Antonio and the league office thinks you got royaly hosed.

I thought the PTI guys were lame. They didn't ask any tough questions and didn't press the issue. It was a very boring and unnecessary interview.

For example, Kornheiser asked Stern if he was going to watch the game tonight. He should have asked why he cancelled his trip to PHX

Since Kornheiser isn't a Suns fan (and seems like a marginal NBA fan) I doubt he knew Stern even had a trip to Phoenix that he did cancel. Its very difficult for most people to be confrontational, especially if its not a team they care about that got hosed, so I think Tony and Mike did a good job considering. Plus, who knows at what time that interview was recorded? If it was after the Dan Patrick thing, they probably made a deal not to grill Stern so he'd come on the show.

Isn't Jerry still in the committee of some sorts in the NBA?

Jerry has a lot of power in the NBA, and I was honestly kind of surprised when the suspensions came out. I thought Colangelo would've been able to be like the God father and get what he wanted.

I saw it & Stern's answers were total BS.. He's probably got millions bet on this series (Suns & Spurs); las vegas & other areas & countries.
His decision to suspend Stodemire, etc. wasn't really warranted & he knows it; he just wanted to make sure (or try his best) the Spurs would win the series & thus protect the huge amount of money he has on the series!!!
It's NOW time for him to leave the NBA.

I see where your coming from but if they made a deal to take it easy on Stern, then that's bad journalism. This is by far the biggest story in sports and tough questions should be asked. Even though Kornheiser isn't a big NBA fan, Wilbon more then makes up for it and should have been more tough on Stern. It's not even a PHX Suns argument, it's what's good for the game/NBA.

Jerry was interviewed yesterday on Gambo and Ash and he said he was very disappointed by the suspension.

No one is saying that, but that doesn't mean the Suns can't win. Sports are crazy, crazy things happen, thats why we all like to watch them. If not played on paper, anything can happen.

Suns still have a chance. We need the BS Spurs luck to fall our way, stay out of foul trouble, and play fast as hell. If KT can stay out of foul trouble and Barbosa can be productive (like he was in the Lakers series) then we will have a chance. IMO, those are the two keys to tonights game
