I can't find my Arrogancometer, anyone else have one they can hook up before the pregame to monitor his speech?
"These critics are not realizing that there was a game 7, which Kings could've closed out the series."
I'm not sure if you're quoting here, but if game 6 was fixed in favor of the Lakers, then the series could have ended right there with the Kings winning.
No, it wasn't a quote. Thats what Stern said to PHX crowd during the All-Star appearance about Amare/Diaw suspension. Substitute couple words.
>>Stern Reacts To Donaghy Allegations
(Los Angeles, CA) -- NBA Commissioner David Stern addressed the serious allegations made by disgraced former NBA referee Tim Donaghy on Thursday. Donaghy claimed in a letter on Tuesday that postseason games in 2002 and 2005 were fixed by referees. A contest rumored to be one of those fixed by officials was Game Six of the 2002 Western Conference finals between the Sacramento Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers. Stern admitted that it was not one of the better refereed games, but any claim that the contest it was fixed is, quote, "not true." Stern also said he believes Donaghy's claims have not cast a dark cloud over the NBA Finals. Donaghy has already pleaded guilty to charges of betting on games he officiated.
"I find it to be less than fair that our officials now have to defend themselves because of one of their fallen brethren, but that seems to be what the media is demanding of me on their behalf."
"The allegations about that are incorrect, are not true, I don't even want to fudge words, ok, they're not true."
"America is tuning in with great enthusiasm and anticipation. Theyre following our series. I think the players deserve the following theyre getting. I think it's disconcerting that this is distracting some people, but for the most part, the game is what's going on."
Our officials want nothing more than to be at the top of their professional game and make the correct call. That's their living, that's their pride, that's their joy, that's what they do. They don't achieve that because they happen to be human.
"There's a lot of officiating done by local announcers, and if you listen to both team's announcers you would think you're listening to completely different games. Sometimes the coaches are not constructive with the way their use officiating to motivate their teams, and sometimes people see calls that are flat out incorrect."
"My memory recalls that that was not one of the best refereed games."
"These critics are not realizing that there was a game 7, which Kings could've closed out the series."
wow,if he said that,he is more douchebag than he looks."we fixed the game,so what,we only fix one game out of 7" he says,eh\\
I don't know how "commissioner" is selected,if he's appointed or elected, and i'll appreciate if he informs, but this guy has been on that seat for zillion years and the game lost respect, people don't even watch a celtics-lakers finals anymore.
read the whole thread before you comment. That was an adaptation of what he said about the amare/diaw suspensions.
So to sum this up, Stern just read from the same transcript he always does, just changing the times, dates and teams?
