Missed another easy FG. It's not like he's missing FG's 45 yards and out. He's consistently missing 32 yarders. I mean, this is Eric Shubert bad. And let not forget that these first 3 games were indoors. Meanwhile, Catanzaro is 6 of 7 his only miss a 45 yard attempt. His misses have been momentum killers.

And when he does make them, the kicks are coming off really low too it seems

let's not forget he already ADMITTED he's thinking about being a cursed Cardinals kicker. Once you've actually said those words outloud and keep missing kicks, that thought is only going to grow...

He missed last night because he rushed to avoid the block from the free rusher coming at him. Same thing happened with the extra point last week.

It is not fair to judge him till he is given decent blocking that every other kicker in the NFL gets.

As a kicker you don't have time to adjust to a rush. A kicker has to keep his head down and trust in his trechnique. If anything he kicked it toward the rusher. It was a push wide right all the way. Not even close.

When Dawson missed yet ANOTHER field goal, I had a flashback to the Cubs playoff game years ago when Steve Bartman interfered with a foul ball. All the Cubs fans immediately said "here we go again" and just felt like expected to lose. The Cardinals came out dominating the Cowboys and it was refreshing to see them off to a quick start for once. But after Dawson missed I could just tell everyone was rolling their eyes just expecting to lose.

Oh, and Veldheer sucks, too. That was a big reason why we lost.

This is my understanding... keep head down and trust technique.

I'd love to string him up and hang him from a goalpost, but making a change right now and perhaps falling prey to The Law of Unintended Consequences at this point in the season doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I had high hopes for Dawson. Can't tell at this point if it's him or the sieve o-line not protecting.

We have a scheme problem, not a kicker problem. For 2+ years now, we have not provided enough protection around the extreme edges on kicks and teams are picking us apart for it. I'm not sure if it's a responsibility/assignment issue, or if it's an alignment issue, but both kickers' problems the past two years have been exacerbated by horrible, down-right stubborn unwillingness to adapt to how teams are sending pressure.

Simply ridiculous. This is right up there with the unwillingness to set a chip block to help out a struggling offensive lineman. Veldheer was getting manhandled, simply crushed (did you see that one play where Lawrence grabbed him by both forearms and chucked him to the side??!) and we still did NOTHING to set a chip or assist. He needed help, as have our kickers on special teams, and we do nothing to adapt.

There is a point where good employees who are secure in themselves stop and say "hey boss, this ain't workin, I've had enough, how can we fix it? ". Some employees get fired for speaking up, some don't. Who in the organization will speak up?

Dawson is just another bent link in a long chain of inconsistent kicker this franchise had since Bakken retired. It's like the position is cursed for us. I mean, how is it we can't find a reliable kicker over the past 40 years?
