Just saw Terrance Malick's (Thin Red Line, The New World) first film, Days of Heaven. I liked it, but is was very "malick-like." Beautifully shot but slower-moving than most hollywood films.

I think it was either Richard Gere's first, or one of his first films as well.

Anyone else seen this one? It's about these two kids (late teens, early 20s?) that travel around working at whatever jobs they can find around 1910 or so. They end up harevsting on a wheat farm in TX which is owned by a younger guy who's dying. The land owner falls in love with the woman, and Gere encourages her to marry him for the money--afterall, he's going to die soon anyway, right? Well, he doesn't and things get tense.

Like I said, it's not a typical hollywood film in that it doesn't move at an Mtv pace, but man, some of the long shots in the fields are spectacular. There's one in particular of the find blowing the grass around that is breathtaking, IMO.
