Assuming the rain in St. Louis stays away, Juan Cruz gets the start today against Mark Mulder.

We haven't faired well against Mulder in the past and our left handed dominant lineup doesn't help matters. In 2 starts against the Dbacks, Mulder has 2 wins, 2 shutouts, a zero ERA, given up only 6 hits, 13 K's vs 2 BB's, and held us to a .107 batting average. As a batter, he's 2 for 3 with a RBI! Not good but Maddux and Arroyo were tearing until they met us. Go Dbacks!

Well I just got home from the game. Nice effort by the undermanned D'backs. Conor Jackson didn't look very good, and I'm bummed I didn't get to see Counsell play. The one HR by the Dbacks hit the wall about 15 feet in front of me which was pretty neat.

The new Busch Stadium is pretty nice, but it has a few problems. The aisles and walkways are WAY too small and thin. Things arent labeled well and its a bit confusing to find your way. Also the bathroom situation is terrible. I was sitting right behind the left foul pole, to get to the bathrooms you have to walk all the way to either RF or about 3rd base. I don't know if the sound system is yet to be installed but we watched the game in silence, didn't hear any PA or the national anthem. Also the big screen was very glitchy, it would seem to freeze and say "Luis Gonzales batting" even though he was out 2 batters ago. There was a lot of black spots on the screen and digital pixillation, etc.

Other than that, its open to the city, very pretty. Easy to get in and out of and traffic was surprisingly not bad for it being a sell out.

I was there on April 22 for the game vs the Cubs. NONE of the problems you mentioned were a factor that day. It was only the 5th game in the new staduim and things were perfect that I could see. Never even had an issue with the bathrooms (usually much more of a problem for the ladies than the men...) the sound system was great and the jumbrotron had no problems. In fact, the seats still had that "new car vinyl" kinda smell. (The seats in my section were padded) I got lucky and got seats next to the dugout (Cardinals side) about 8 rows up from the field. Face value of the ticket was $100 and got for $40 from a street scalper at the end of the 2nd inning. SWEET!!!!
It's a very pretty stadium with the red brick and arches.

^^^ I think the main problem was that I was sitting in LF right behind the foul pole. Right above us was the section that was yet to be completed. Above our heads their were dangling exposed wires, maybe thats where the speakers will eventually go?

As far as bathrooms, I definitely asked local fans, and they said in the outfield there wasnt much option but to go to RF or 3rd base. Ah well,a good time anyway.

Todays game- Vargas vs Marquis

Marquis has really been struggling his past couple outings while Vargas has been pitching great. We need a win today, Go Dbacks!

Oh yeah I remember seeing that section and asking the folks sitting beside me why it was empty. Seems it wasn't finished on time, and they can't seat anyone there until there is a formal inspection, so they wait. The rest of the staduim was SRO except for there.

What about the exterior architecture??

Food?? Price and selection??

Beer?? I'm sure they had plenty of Bud.....anything a little bit more expensive for those whom want it??

Anything to do after the game??

Exterior architecture looked very nice. Its not quite as distinct looking as the old Busch, but it still looks really cool.

Food, I have no idea, all I bought was 1 bottle of water. I went out to eat w/ my family before the game, so I was stuffed.

Beer, I'm not too sure about the selection, Im not a drinker. Im pretty sure Budweiser bottles were $7. And for 6.75 they had some sort of fruity looking thing that came in what sort of looked like a bong.

After the game there isn't really much to do....yet. They are building the "ballpark village" (which is right now a dirt lot) which will have retail, condos/apts, and places to eat. There are very few late night options in downtown StL right now (except perhaps Maurizios Sports Bar/Pizza on Olive and 8th-ish, so thats a bit of a walk from the stadium), but thats going to be changing.

Sorry I couldnt really answer your questions.

Don't know about the beer either. Sorry. I got water as well. Too damn hot for anything else. The exterior is nice, and in time the red brick will develop character like the old stadium. Once they get the area next to the staduim completed, it will be nice.
