I think Maddux is something like 1-9 lifetime against the D'backs.... Hopefully that trend continues because he has been on fire this season

I get home from the game to see us in the 9th and the Cubs have the bases loaded with one out. Why does Melvin continue to put in Daigle, whom we just recalled from the minors, in close games. He put him in last night against the Dodgers in a one run game and Daigle tried to make a mess of it. I'm sure Vavlerde will clean up his mess tonight but I just don't understand why Melvin does things like this. Put him in if we're getting blown out (or vice versa) and make him earn his way into crunch time

We did have a four run lead when Melvin put him in...

Tracy is an rbi machine the last few days. Batista pitched well enough and Papa Grande came in to put out the fire. Going for another sweep tomorrow.

I realize that but when he loads the bases (with no outs nonetheless) the tying run is at the plate. With a AAA reliever on the mound, a four run lead is not safe. A four run lead is a save situation- put in Lyon or Vicqaino at the worst

A four run lead at the start of an inning is NOT a save situation. Daigle did not load the bases, he put the first two guys on (one hit and one walk). It was Valverde that came in (it became a save situation with the tying run on deck after the hit and walk) that walked the guy to load the bases. Lyon and Vizciano had both pitched two days in a row (and 3 of the last 4), so you'd ideally want to not stretch them out by pitching them again.

I didn't realize Valverde walked a batter to load the bases. When I got home, Thom was making it seem like Valverde was brought in to clean up a bases loaded mess. Regardless, I still think that Daigle should not be put in a late inning situation when we have the lead (whether it's a one run lead or a four run lead). He has proved nothing in the past and has flirted with disaster the last 2 nights.

Yeah that's what I thought too until I saw SportsCenter

Byrnes is blind!

2 batters walk ahead of him and he swings at 3 pitches that aren't even close to the strike zone.

Tracy is on fire as he goes yard and Easley now goes yard, 4-0 Diamondbacks! Cruz is looking good again.

Cruz hurt his ankle throwing to first, hopefully he will be okay. Cruz looks like a strikeout machine.
