We did have a four run lead when Melvin put him in...devilfan02 said:Put him in if we're getting blown out (or vice versa) and make him earn his way into crunch time

A four run lead at the start of an inning is NOT a save situation. Daigle did not load the bases, he put the first two guys on (one hit and one walk). It was Valverde that came in (it became a save situation with the tying run on deck after the hit and walk) that walked the guy to load the bases. Lyon and Vizciano had both pitched two days in a row (and 3 of the last 4), so you'd ideally want to not stretch them out by pitching them again.devilfan02 said:I realize that but when he loads the bases (with no outs nonetheless) the tying run is at the plate. With a AAA reliever on the mound, a four run lead is not safe. A four run lead is a save situation- put in Lyon or Vicqaino at the worst
