Well, the Dbacks return back to Chase Field (will always also be affectionately known as the BOB) for their home opener which will be the first of eighty-one games exciting games to be played there throughout the 2006 campaign....

This game will feature the rematch of the same starters from Game 2 when Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez managed to outpitch Aaron Cook during the 4-2 Dbacks victory.....

Here's the link to the boxscore to remind everyone:
http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com...d=1385994&vkey=wrapup2005&fext=.jsp&team=away

Since the Dbacs won the series 2-1, the Rockies find themselves tied with the Giants at a 4-2 record which is good enough to be in 1st place in the National League Worst, while the Dbacks are in 4th place with a 3-3 record and only 1 game out....

Last year, the Dbacks for some odd reason struggled at home with a 36-45 record while they somehow managed a 41-40 on the road... So, let's hope the Dbacks can set a positive tone and that this becomes the winning confines...

The key to tonight's game is if Hernandez can replicate last Wednesday's success with his vast arsenal of pitches... Just his ability to blend all those mix-speeds kept many of the Rockies hitters off balance for those 5 dominating innings when he amassed 8-ks while only walking 2 batters....

Offensively, Chase is a hitter's park, so I hope Tracy, Jackson, and Green can discover their full power-potential..and Gonzo continues his solid hitting.....

They were scared off by all the nonsense that went on Opening Night.

******** cheerleaders and playing an annoying love song for every opposing bater is not the way to get butts in the seats.

yeah, no keeding. Also, that female emcee needs to go away or at least stop talking. The tone of her voice through the sound system was killing my ears.

The opposing hitter song thing was funny for about 5 seconds. At least play different songs, not clips of the same song.

Anybody else rubbing their holy beads and hoping for an Ortiz miracle tonight?

If he can go 5 innings and give up 3 runs it would qualify as a miracle. Two more times and he could be a saint, I think.

That gimmick has already been axed, lots of fans emailed the team to complain about how annoying it was.

It was bad, but that was not nearly as disturbing as watching dozens of middle aged men drooling over the fifteen year old cheerleaders. Having cheerleaders at a baseball game is blasphemous as it is, but at least make sure they're eighteen before you throw them in front of a bunch of drunken midlife crisis cases.

One way I'd try to build attendance is improving the food. It's suprisingly mediocre for such a new venue. The Peter Piper at Chase is awful, Garcia's, Blimpie's, and Panda Express suck everywhere, and you can't eat McDonald's at a baseball game. The dogs are solid but they're just as good if not better at nearly every baseball stadium. The lack of a signature food is also pretty pathetic.

The last time I went....the food was pretty good. I haven't been since August of '04 (how that happened I don't know.) Taste of the Majors was pretty good. They still have that?? We'd always hit the Astros BBQ burger.

Juan Cruz has impressed me so far this season. So far he has been a solid reliever in the BP.

I usually bring my own food. Roast beef sandwich, raw veggies.

Cruz does look decent. Not going to jinx our bullpen by complimenting them this early in the season, however.
