With NB injured DBYRD could fill the whole as H back/FB. maybe

He hasn't been shown much this presseason but last preseason He was an explosive playmaker.

Whis wants blocking TE's but hasn't been able to get rid of DBYRD for the 3rd year. He was a different number than last year at practices and R&W scrimmage, but I had my eye out for him all year.

Ford is now 39 and he wasn't on the roster at that point in camp. DBYRD is 86, and He was in the backfield quite a bit even though his name wasn't called in preseason games.

I don't know if Matt feels a comfort with him from USC, but with Whiz running the show NCAA Championship games seem to be a death bite for , Deuce and Lyles contracts, Matt and Beanie starting.

But DByrds has skills and huge talent as a receiver, can we give up thump from the FB in this offense for more receiver talent and explosiveness.

I say yes, but that seems to be a death bite for anything Whiz does.

I say H-back/FB/ TE is a versatile playmaker in DBYRD.

I can give up thumb but I don't like death bites.

minus the deathbites, We have DBYRD on the roster in the position. I apolgise for added opinion again.

In Whiz I have no vote and a fanatical warped opinion.

Three things - First there were 3 players(byrd, Moosman, Knips) that did not play at all in preseason game #3 which usually means the coaches already know they will be cutting them, they will be the first cuts of the offseason because they don't want them to get hurt and have to shell out the injury waiver money, thus they did not risk playing them. Second Byrd was already playing in this role during preseason game #1 and #2 and didn't look any good doing it. Finally I am not sure how 3 catches in 4 preseason games in 2009 equals "explosive".

agreed Joe. Byrd's blocking has always been suspect, which is a big reason he never lasted in Ten.

nope

come on now, I like talent and think that Deuce, Matt and Dybrd are talented, Sendlein and Beanie too but anybody with NCAA championship games are struggling on this team, and starting on many others. It's a coincidnce.

and DBRYD had a couple explosive catches called back, I have last preseason on DVR, I watched then recently and if you watched it He is most surely explosive after the catch.

He never started this game but wE lost a FB this game also. I don't know if He is a poor man NB or not, but He is an explosive pass catching TE head and shoulders above our blocking TE's after the catch.

We need a FB that upgrades DBYRD is my point.

yeah, but before that he went to USC!!!!! THESMEL has a hard on for Trojans.
