Don't know if I'm too thrilled with this but after only 10 months, DCUO is going free to play next month. There will be restrictions like limited in game cash(max $1,500 for F2P, you can buy more)), limited text, limited chat, only 2 free characters(ou can buy more) and you will have to pay for any new content. Current subscribers will automatically be Legends subscribers meaning they will still get everything they get now with no additional cost. My worry is when it went to megaservers, there were wait queues to get in game and I only worry this is going to get worse.

The F2P date has been announced...November 1st.

I let my subscription lapse and from I've been reading it was a good move. When SOE merged servers into 2 big servers, it was a logistical nightmare. Well, what I've heard is that the problems they've been having are even worse. Queue's in the 9,000 range with legendary subscribers not getting priority(which was promised). I don't see this game lasting another 6 months.

SOE was unprepared for the mass of returning players once it went F2P. I was reading that one of the devs said that there was a 1000% increase in players logging in on November 1st. It's rumored that SOE is redirecting server resources from their other MMO's to help with the spike in users, making those games run much slower than normal.

Of course, anyone whose had past experience with SOE knows how capable they are of mismanaging their resources.

What I don't understand is this. Did they decide to go F2P on a whim? And if not, why go to mega servers when the original 9(?) servers would be better set up to handle a F2P spike? There was nothing wrong with the original setup but the whole thing is weird. Server merge in August then all of a sudden decide to go F2P starting in November? Sad too because I really enjoyed the game.
