Kevin Smith on Batman's costume for Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman vs. Superman film:

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=111267

"I saw the Batman costume. More than that I saw a picture of him (Affleck) in the costume. Now, I don't want to give anything away 'cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this, I instantly bear hugged him (Snyder). You have not seen this costume in a movie on film before, and for a comic book fan it was mind bending. I was like 'Get out of here, only you have enough power to pull this off.' Because everyone always like does this Matrix/X-Men black armor...It was fantastic. I'm already a flag waver for this movie, but the costume, it blew my mind. I think everyone is just gonna be like 'Holy ****!' It's its own thing, man. It's like we haven't been down this path at all. I was so elated....Even the hardest core “**** all this” person will be like 'alright, I'm ready.'"

Nice bit of viral marketing...I don't care if Kevin Smith is a shill for the film, I want to see it now.

There's a lot of pasta throwing going on with this film lately, and I hope none of it sticks.

First I heard were rumors of Wonder Woman being in the film, and now Nightwing?

Good grief!

Word also's out that the Flash will show up at some point too.

There is some real danger of them losing sight of this actually being a Superman movie, not a Batman or Justice League movie.

Why not Aquaman then? I think Aaron Paul would be great as Aquaman.

Agreed. I hope this is just "The Marketing Machine" keeping people's interest piqued until things get a bit more concrete. If it goes beyond Supes, Batman, and Lex Luthor in the finished product it's going to be a train wreck.

They're so desperately trying to create the Justice League to compete with The Avengers, but are just going about it all the wrong way. Marvel took a pretty big risk with the solo films for Thor/Cap/Hulk before going full Monty but it worked perfectly because A) Each of the Avengers had their own full movie in which audiences could really get into the characters and B) they lucked out having Downey finally become a megastar to anchor the entire thing.

The idea that DC is completely rebooting Batman...within Superman's sequel just strikes of idiocy to me. He's undoubtedly the single biggest solo superhero around and after Nolan so firmly entrenched his version of Bats in the public's mind, they shoul have had patience enough to give him a solo reboot to join the new DC world they're building. Just wreaks of people looking at Marvel's plan and wanting to emulate it without ever taking the time to consider why and how that plan worked.

More and more, I'm thinking this is going to be a trainwreck.

Agreed. Superman is already a tough property to make into a spectacular movie (nobody has done it since Richard Donner in 1980). Now you threaten to have Batman completely overshadow a "Superman movie". Not sure what Warner Bros. is doing with this.

Does "Man of Steel: World's Finest" pretty much assume it should be "Justice League: World's Finest"?

It would be kinda cool if Superman's arrival brought Batman out of the shadows and empowered other heroes to start their careers. Maybe just news reports about the Flash, WW, etc...but very little screen time or closeups of their exploits.

This movie should only bring in Batman as a mentor/adversary/ally. Only by joining forces can Superman and Batman defeat the evil _____. That in turn inspires them to seek out these other emerging heroes...blah, blah, blah. Then they can show up in cameos in those other character's movies over the next 3-5 years before a proper JLA movie brings them all together officially.

But if the 2015 movie turns into a superhero convention without laying the necessary groundwork, it'll be a wasted opportunity.

Agreed.

If this film has a Batman vs. Supes fight, it can't be the climax IMHO. It's has to be the catalyst for them to work together against a bigger foe (ie Lex Luthor). It's almost like the first act is going to have to be Batman origin story just to get to a second act fight with Superman, so that they can team up for the big baddie in the third.

The only Batman vs Supes fight possible would be a short one ending with Batman beaten to a pulp. I don't care what silly gadgets or armor you have--uh, it's Superman.

This is my feeling as well...unless Batman has some crazy kryptonite weapon, of course Kryptonite was even touched on in the latest movie (or did I miss it?).

I have zero doubt Kryptonite has to be involved. It's the only way Batman could stand a chance against him.

I hope this film is great....I really do. Even if it is, I still seriously doubt a JLA movie won't be a train wreck waiting to happen.

Seems like a good pick.

Only 5'9", but so is Lynda Carter. Maybe the camera adds a couple of inches. :D
